  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tc250 big bore kit, anybody done one?

I'm thinking about doing the 300 kit and I'm looking for someone who has done one to see if it's worth it. I don't want to put out $800 and the time to do it if it would hurt the reliability. I use my bike mostly for trail riding and I put a lot of miles on it. I guess my main question is TXC 310 or put the money into my tc250? Spending $800 on parts for my 05 TC or spending $8000 on a new bike? If I could do the 300 kit and get more power and another 2 years out of my TC i would prefer to do that rather then take a loan out on a bike. Any feed back and or advise would be great. Thanks.

I put the Athena 300 kit on my 08 TE 250. It was the best $ every spent. That motor had the most electric broad power that I have ever ridden. That bike boogied! I got over 4k hard offroad miles on it before it needed a valve adjustment. I loved that bike and sold it for a 2010 txc 250 x-lite. Although the x lite was a little lighter and nimbler. I felt the 300 motor was much better. I would recommend looking for a 2009 and 2010 TE 310 or a 08/09 TXC 250.
