  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC 449

Probably a little. Upper level B rider here in Michigan. Did 30 races last year on my 125 husky, so I'm going to take it a little easier this year.

MX racing? Gonna be logging some air time?

30 races sounds like a full full schedule .....

Yeah, mostly MX. 30 seems like a lot especially once you are married, lol. Back in 2007 I did 50 in a year. Man that was a busy summer.

Sounds like 3 races a week or more ... You can be one of the firsts to write a report on MX racing this bike ...

Not your first 450 to race, right?

Good luck!

I raced April through October pretty much both days every weekend. There were a few weekends off, but not many. Got a state championship out of the deal, so it was worth it. Yeah, I've had a few 450's before.

04 TC 450
05 TC 450
07 CRF 450

And a whole bunch of 250 2 strokes.

Great credentials ... Why the TC 449? Not alot seem to get this bike as a MX racer .... Have you rode one yet?

Yes, I picked it up on Saturday. Went and raced at our local sand track on Sunday. It's known for being tight and brutally rough. It was my first ride of the year and first time being on a bike in 6 months. I had about 2 good laps in me then I was done for the day. Overall, the bike worked quite well. I need a softer shock spring to get the sag right. Or, I might go for an ohlins ttx from the guys at Zip Ty. I've heard they do wonders. The power is a little down compared to my 07 CRF 450, but it is still plenty fast.

Buy on Saturday, race on Sunday! .... Ain't that cool ... And thats a quick break end for the engine ....

That engine probably needs a few things applied\removed to get it un-corked to add a few horses to it ... There are some threads here on that process or maybe someone will chime in here on what you need ...

Anything from the Zip guys will be an improvement I'd guess ....

I did three heat cycles at home before going to the races. It should have been broke in fairly well. I don't think that the TC needs to be un-corked. I've heard of a few guys putting holes in the air filter cover, but that's about it. TTX shock is on the way.

I weighed the bike today. 243 pounds with half a tank of fuel, race ready. Not bad compared to the jap 450's. I learned that the stock chain is junk after one ride. I've got an RK GB 520MXU chain to put on it tomorrow. Fasst Co Flexx Bars are going on shortly as well.

Sounds good and keep us posted ...

You gonna get any seat time during the week before next race ?

I don't have any races planned this weekend. I should get a lot of seat time on Saturday.

Seat time is where it is at ... So the bike jumps like any other bike? Nothing funny coming off the jump lips with the CTS suspension?

243 lbs sounds pretty light to me ... ESP after hearing the weight of the TE models being much heavier ....
I'm down with the RK chains ... I had a RK 520 XSO chain once ... Rode my trail bike for months before I even had to ADJ it once ...
