  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC 449 questions(mx use)

I am picking up a '13 449 this week for a Vet MX bike this year, first Husky 4t since my '08 TC510... are there any cats here who MX a 449?

Anything specific that I should know MX wise or even general knowledge for this platform? Anything I should do straightaway?

I know most guys here run off road, but hope one or two race mx. Will I regret it and wish for the 250?

I thought I was going to stick with 2t's, but since this bike has been out, I have had a thing for it... and figured it's only money. Just hope it is an ok bike.

Anyway, thanks CH crew.

I ride a TE511 and also have an older 2005 yz450 which is my motorcrosser.
When I bought the TE it was intended to be my desert bike, longer overall final gear ratio and a 6sp vs a 4 speed on my yz.
I really like it better for the desert overall, but it is decidedly less nimble than my yz. I think it is the overall weight, which in large part is due to the battery and starter motor and associated farkles to make it street legal.
The TC is afflicted in the same way, but to a lesser extent.
It should be a great overall bike, but you will have to deal with the wider ratio transmission, and the heavier bike. My TE seems taller in the seat to me as well - it really feels like it in the corners when laying it over in a berm.

My wish list, after now owning the TE, is to get a 2 stroker for the track. It will feel about a hundred pounds lighter (it really is about 20-30lbs though), and lighter not only handles better, but flys and lands better too. My TE can feel pretty heavy on the big hits I have jumped on it so far. And I have already done the suspension mods, which have helped, but can't make a fat girl thin, if you know what I mean ...
The TC is a great bike, and will do fine, but if it is at all like my TE, then it is not a motocrosser.

I Mx an 2011 tc 449 I love it! All I did was adjust the suspension mainly the forks I cranked them as stiff as they would go I only way 160-165 with gear on. It feels a little on the heavy side in the air but at the same time it's extremely stable and the cts is AWESOME in the chop!Hope you like the new bike there have been times were I wanted the TC250 but that's only on really technical single track

Thanks guys. From what little info is out there, The suspension is soft.. So I will be in the same boat bbc. Similar weight as well. I was(am) interested in the 250, but want to give the 449 a shot, I look forward to the puzzled looks and questions in the pits...

First time posting. Been looking around this forum for a while now. I traded in my 2010 tc450 for a te511. Love both bikes. The tc450 was pretty great on the track at my skill level. Turned up all the clickers just 1 setting and could easly do the big stuff. Was reading about the 2011, 2012 having too soft of a suspension. I ride my te511 a few times a week on the highway and take it the mx track on some weekends. I know its not a mx track bike. Only problem I have is the front end bottoms out hard on the big bigger jumps. Back end seems just fine. I about 200 lbs with gear. Was thinking about some tc forks for my te, but not sure. I go to Milstone MX in Riverside, CA. U.S.A.

TC forks are not necessary, give Ty Davis a call @ Zip-Ty racing. He fixed my TE front forks and they can handle anything I can throw at them, even g-outs at 60+. He knows more about Husky's than anyone else in the area and services suspension for less $$ and he won't gouge you for thirty dollar oil.

Just for the record, the TC449 is an awesome motocross bike. The TXC and TE are awesome enduro race bikes which are also awesome on the mx track.
