  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC 250 2010 engine blown need parts

Hi I just had a major failure with my 2010 tc 250 and now am in need of some major engine parts which include barrel, conrod kit, all 4 valves and piston kit. what I am wondering is if anyone is dismantling a bike that may have the parts i'm after or even the complete engine. Does any one know of a company that would ship a re coated barrel to Australia or any of those parts, what do you pay for valves in USA I think they are about $ 230 each here and about the same for conrod kit and piston kitand new barrel about $ 900.****************************************!
What the ### happened I hear you ask well not sure yet but suspect slowly loosing water and during race, piston has got tight and conrod pulled the bottom out of piston and went a little crazy as it came to a halt not before bent valves and scored bore. But did not show symptoms of boiling ie steam and water spewing out, so still seeking advice.
thanks macwood

Ugly story to a high degree ...

Different bike but for my 08 txc250, I was quoted ~$70 per value, $140 per rod kit ...Not OEM on the rod kit and not sure on the valves ...

I picked up a used 2010 te310 with a blown top end. It had a value broken and shoved sideways into the head. I am into parts $1600. Now I just need to figure out how to get bits of piston out of the bottom end with out tearing the bottom end apart. That $1600. Included complete top end Head, values, cylinder, piston, rings, gaskets, high flow water pump, and valve shim kit.
I couldn't find much in aftermarket parts. All are OEM except my shim kit. 147 shims for 80 bucks and I can us them on my other bikes and friends bikes too.
Good luck with the rebuild

Hi ray I find the same those motors that are in yours are really good for parts available and price but a different story on the 2010 and up. I am a bit dissapointed in the way these manufactures sting us for parts but I know its all that do it.

I told ray before that his motor was such a treat to split and work on but now I can say the new x lite motor is way easier still and I would not hesitate to split the 310 and have a look and get every bit of metal out especially the mains and big end bearings, only tool you will need to get hold of is a flywheel puller. We got 70 hard hours on ours without having to touch valves but then started to loose clearance on inlets you can re shim them once but order the new ones because they dont last long after that. ps i recomend to replace big end at 50 -60 race hours, we left ours to a bit over 60 but it seized and can damage the bore which is expensive.

any way thanks macwood
