  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Talk me out of a 2014 TC 250 with a Rekluse

I mostly ride trail, some of it real technical.a race or two each year(hare scramble type)about half dozen days at the MX track.a 144 just did not do it for me in the hills,i only felt fast .I don't have a Husky right now and feel sort of bummed out because of that.two Betas and no huskys has me feeling kind of guilty! Will the Rekluse keep me going when I would normally flounder? Will the TC 250 be forgiving enough with a Rekluse thru the technical stuff for an over the hill guy?Dan

A Txc or TE310 would be better with a rekluse. Pretty tough to stall with an auto clutch. What Beta's do you have?

My 310 you sold me kicks ass in the technical with the rekluse. The rekluse makes stuff you would fumble on normally a breeze and in definite control. A 250 might be a little weak in my opinion as I feel the 310 leaves a little torque to be desired being 240lbs. Although, that gives me more control since I'm not overpowering myself in the hard spots.

the tc 250s with the red head have decent bottom end power.but I have not ridden said bike with a Rekluse to know for sure it will work.whos ridden a read head 250 with a recluse?dan

I have the Rekluse in my WB165 and it's and awesome combo. With the TC250 weighing about the same with what I would think similar power I could see it working. It's funny I was riding my 2010 TC250 today in the woods at my house and thinking I should get a Rekluse for it .

I have one, seems to be hurting for power, not much bottom end, good midrange, some say I need to change rekluse springs so they grab harder. you cant pop it over logs that's for sure, its work.
oil temp seems super hot but I run temp gauge, all seems well

I have a 2010 TC250 with a Rekluse and I feel it is one of the most effective bikes in the woods. Although I think the 2010 is softer hitting power than the newer red heads.
The Rekluse makes the bike as docile as a trials bike down low, but rips when you get on the gas. Tc is a pretty light bike but with 4 stroke power.
I think the ultimate would be to take a TE and put a TC top end on it. 6 speeds, electric start, and TC power, I would even opt for the FCR carb.
I am a new Beta dealer, but I am not sure I will part with my TC250!

I have since sold the rekluse out of mine and the bike is for sale. However I do love the power. Its not super strong on the bottom, but decent. I find that I mostly count on the rekluse for an anti-stall more than a "slipper" style clutch. I could easily loft the front end over logs and obstacles, and the bike really would never stall. I cannot come to terms with the 2 or 3 kick warm starts. I want to race this bike but a dead engine start is tough when you have to kick it 3 times before it lights off. I had an 11 TXC250 and this one is a lot stonger, smoother, and in general just runs clean all the time. Just hard to start.

I have a 2006 with Rekluse Z start. It's easy to ride in technical stuff even though I have a hard time sometimes with my short legs, just have to be really good at slow trials riding. I agree with an earlier statement that it's not easy to loft the front end over logs. I really have to rev it just right and pop the clutch. Won't do it on power alone. The woods in TN are pretty tight though and this bike is nice for it. The power is smooth for slow stuff and when you really give it the gas it'll come alive. But it's high in the revs when that happens. Motor and exhaust is stock, electric start added and the Rekluse. I have been tempted to get rid of it because I like having the modulation control and it doesn't feel the same. I may need to adjust the clutch some more to get closer to that though.

you were talking about selling the bike...does this mean you're keeping it for a while?

Yes, I decided to keep it for another season at least. I will see what the Austrians turn out after that. It was a very hard decision honestly. Kinda funny but I just kept lusting after a 449/511 but I always came back to the 310 feeling happy so I figure the lusting will pass. This past season was awesome riding the 310 and it performed perfect so why mess with a good thing. This past year I was recovering from a major leg injury (2012 season)that required 3 surgeries. I have been blessed to finally get back to my usual regimen of working out after 18 months of intense rehab. I was unable to run until 3 weeks ago and now I am running 3 miles every other day and the leg continues to get stronger. I hope for a safe successful healthy 2014 riding my newly freshened up TE310

I came to the same conclusion, I was going to get a different plated bike this upcoming season as well, but I like my 310 so much I decided not to change. I like everything about my 310 except the gear box, so I picked up a Rekluse too, I am going to a 48t on the back with the Rekluse I am hoping I can ride the tight stuff without killing myself, and have enough top end to cruise @ around 50-55. I love the handling of this bike, I rode a 350 which would be my next choice, and I just like the feel of the 310 chassis better. So far this is my favorite plated dirt bike, I like it better than my KTM 450, and Husaberg 390. Actually I really liked the 390 a lot, but the DMV here wouldn't let me get a tag, so I got the TE because that was what was available at the time, and I don't regret it one bit.

consider a 47t rear...I can still tackle very tech single track fine and cruising is more like 45-50 as for being comfortable.

I run 13/48 and without a Rekluse it isn't ideal in the tight stuff. A 50 is better but when things open up the 50 isn't ideal. I am hoping with the Rekluse the 48t will work good enough for all around. It had better for $900...
