• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Swingarm Decals 2- the sequel

********IMPORTANT UPDATE***********

I ordered the decals today. One catch- they will not print on a clear backround, for the reasons that I forwarded to most (hopefully all) of you who chose clear. Here they are again:

The adhesive on the back of the decal is not crystal clear, so whatever body part is under it may show through slightly milky or 'odd'. Clear obviously will not hide any surface scratches or blemishes, so those will show through. Also, while handling the decal, any fingerprints you make on the adhesive will show through. Generally speaking the decal could likely look quite disappointingly dirty on the clear section after it was installed.


I don't have any experience with this, I've only installed graphics on one bike in my whole life, and there weren't any clear pieces. So- I made the quick decision to substitute silver for the clear sets I couldn't get. I ordered a few extra of both silver and black, so you can still change your mind as to color on a first come, first served basis until all of one color is spoken for. I hope to be shipping decals to you guys late next week if all goes to plan.

I was thinking about the same thing. I lost interest with the silver background.
Paul has put so much time into this that I didn't think he would want anymore complications.
 
With the luxury of past experience or hindsight, neither of which I had- that's a very good idea, and one that would work for those of you who don't want silver or black, but this boat has already left the harbour.

Logic would dictate some skillful scissors or exacto work would accomplish the same thing. Not as nice perhaps as a factory cut edge, but that's no longer an option. I suspect it also would have considerably added to the price, because it would no longer be a rectangular swingarm decal, cut using existing templates, but a completely custom shaped sticker, actually 2 stickers, per side.


For those of you who 'reserved' decals but no longer want the decals because they are now silver- you are not obligated to take them. I didn't collect any money from anyone ahead of time. Call DeCal works or Ride PG or whoever and order your own exactly the way you want them to be. That's fine. Really. No worries. Just let me know your intentions now so I can make sure someone else who really wants them can get a set before they are all spoken for. Once they are gone, that's it.

OK, I'll take a set of each. I had ordered two clear so if you have Silver and Black I will take one of each. SOLD!

When I ordered the black ones I always planned on cutting out the outer black and keeping the inner black.
I thought the red gun sight with outer white trace looked good and just a bit better with the center being black.:thumbsup:
 
I still want silver! I mean, my swingarm is silver, so...:excuseme:
I'm sure they'll look better than clear once they get dirty anyway:thumbsup:

We've been patiently waiting, and here's an update on the decal order:

I got a call from DeCal Works today, and it seems my order is next in line to be printed.:applause: I got the impression from his reaction that it had maybe slipped through the cracks somehow, but the rep was quick to get back to me with an action report. I should be shipping decal sets by mid-week next week. Sorry for the delay guys, I had expected them much sooner.

Thanks for those who have already paid. You guys rock and I wish I would have been able to send your decals out as quickly as you all sent your payments in.

I have a list of those who spoke for decals and I'll be e-mailing you to make sure you still want a set (or sets). I think the black are all spoken for, but I have a couple of silver sets left.
