  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Suspension Work TE511

Does anyone in OZ know anyone who has had good results on their suspension on the 511. Mine is still stock and am have problems getting my bike to feel balanced, front and back don't seem to want to play together and it's getting me very pissed... I had the same problem with my WR300 when they switched to KYB fronts...

I'm in the same boat. Literally. Talking to Technik recently. They seem to have a handle on things, i'll update once done, might be a few weeks though.

The suspension must be balanced on the 449 chassis. There is a distinctive "Sea-Saw" effect associated with the geometry of it's suspension. Rear spring needs 40mm static/100mm race sag per your weight. Forks should have 50mm of static sag.

So... You you saying that the see saw affect is a design thing and not to dial it out.. dial it out.. it's not doing any thing dumb just feels weird to ride...

I had mine done by ZipTy. No sea-saw effect and works fantastic. My bike was uber plush stock making it a sloppy mess as things got faster. Now it is rock solid stable, handles huge fast whoops like no one biz and is still relatively plush and comfortable. KTM350 buddy rode it the other day and cant stop talking about it and is sending his to zipTy soon. Good stuff.

When you sent your forks to zipty what info do you need to tell them for how to set then up like weight and type of riding or? sorry if its a dumb question ive never sent forks in for customization. i weigh 234 pounds and have my forks maxed out on hardness still way to soft.

Just tell them the truth. Weight, ability, type of riding, what you like and dont like. For me they knew what I ride from the pix here. Told them I wanted plush but lots more control. Did not want jarring stiff for speed as I don't race this bike but did not want sloppy soft either. They nailed it. Comfortable and near race ready too.

Well that's kind of what we need. Weight, height, what you ride and how you ride it. Make sure you tell us your current settings. Make sure you ship your suspension with insurance, UPS works great, a hard gun case, maybe old jeans inside that works well too.
