  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Suspension Setting on the TE449/511

With out a doubt the TE449/511 brakes new ground in suspension refinement. The problem is, the setting dynamics between front and rear.. Its a strange thing to feel the suspension see-saw but get great drive..
Has anyone got some spring sag setting that will help, basic rebound as well would be good.

I'm no suspension guru but I'll give you my settings (approx 200lbs w/gear) since you haven't gotten any response.
Forks Compression -10 out Rebound 14 out. The rear: Race sag 105mm High speed compression 1 1/4 out Low speed compression 11 out Rebound 18 out.

Your suspension should be set up for you individually.
40mm static sag, 100mm of race sag is normally what we set the bikes with. If you are running in the desert/sand then its 40mm static and 115mm race sag.

hi i had noticed a see-saw feel to my bike on its first few outings. still haven't had a chance to service the forks and shock yet. but i did set the race sag last week on the rear (bike had about 60mm static sag) set to factory 40mm and big improvement. think im at 7 clicks out on forks compression standard on rebound. im sure im not far off standard rebound on the rear shock, running a little stiffer on low speed on rear shock. seems to have really helped stop the wallowy ride, still seems to handle small stuff as well.
haven't looked at front spring rates or valving on the front yet but very pleased with the grip off the back suspension.

I raised the forks 8mm to drop the front some. Helped with the seesaw and made it turn much better.
