• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Starting to become very hot in this part of the world. Had the final ride for the year with a couple of mates yesterday, as the temperature climbed into the mid 30's (celcius). Beginning to become far too uncomfortable for us old fellows.

The boys may appear to be a bit tentative crossing some of the bog holes....Very wise, as some of them are deep enough to swallow a bike & rider whole..!! (Then there are the crocodiles to worry about :D)

The Australian bush is full of amazing creatures. (some, you don't want to meet). Listen at the start of the video to the calls of the Bell Birds. These tiny birds make a wonderful sound.

Ha Steve,love Muddys reaction at the end,how come you blokes get riding time,the pre holiday ball busting is full swing here,catch up soon for a ride,maybe Clarance when it cools off.

that's pretty darn warm, but 95-100 (F) and 100% humidity is pretty common for us in the summer. We tend to pick riding spots that have longer, faster trails and lots of shade. Don't ride tracks or trails with tight twisty turns & lots of obstacles. Also, since it gets dark at 8:00 during summer months, we typically ride from 3:00 until dark. Of course, most everyone is wearing hydration bladders filled with water or gator-aid. Also, we ride for shorter stints. Most of the MX races are at night even in the spring, and we don't have many summer series around, but we find ways...to bad it's not San Diego. My brother lives there and it's just about the same all the time-80 deg. and sunny, but we make due.

Its very similar for us,my latest trick is a blue singlet to stop chafing and a Danese{sp}
summer pressure suit,much cooler without a jersey,especially when your moving with the evaporate effect of a touch of sweat.
 
I spent two weeks in a Tasmanian bush ....... ....great nursing colleges in Tasmania

Hey Vince...Go to a camping store and buy yourself a sleeveless "Coolmax" singlet.....THEY WORK..!!

HuskyT. I lived in Tasmania from 1985 to 1994. Just south of Hobart in a small village called Kingston. Went back for a visit recently and it is still a beautiful place.:)

While in the US MArines I spent 2 weeks in the Aussie Outback with the Australian Military ... great training, great guys, great beer, great BBQ Kangaroo, great scenery all good ....great pubs:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: you guys have a beautiful country!:thumbsup:

We then went from the mainlan south to Hobart for 2 weeks of liberty/shore leave.... great casinos, great pubs, great people, learned what "sauce" was for French Fries, got to drink Australian Green Destroyers etc.... Hobart has to be one of the cleanest cities I have ever been in. The Tasmanian people treated us like Royalty.
