  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Suggestions on upgrading Headlight on 92-99 4 strokes. Need to upgrade headlights on my 1992 350 WXE for a trip. Anyone upgrade to higher wattage? HID? Need to rewind stator? Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

Funny and timely as I just looked into this today on my 94 WXC250. It has a robust stock stator that puts out a strong 130 watts AC. To run a HID you need DC. To do that is not simple on this bike. Float the ground, rec / reg etc. It's a custom project. had Trailtech peep mine and said the KTM or other ones do not direct bolt in and would need a custom backing plate.

So, the best solution IMHO is the Trailtech X2 70 watt Halogen light which is inexpensive and works great. That's what i did. The stator is very strong even at idle and it lights the 70 watt 2 bulb light very well. It works great and your out a grand total of $80.

Shameless plug, you can oder that right from me at motosportz.com

I have night ridden with this light on several bikes and it works VERY well.

here is the headlight on my 94...

I want to keep the old school look so I believe I am going to keep the original plastic headlamp and replace the plastic lense with a glass lense unit from Baja Designs. It should be a close fit. Any suggestions on bulb wattage for on and offroad?

Good question. Maybe I can get the glass casing/lens from Baja Design and the ask George if the Uptite LED will work on the inside of that.

Make sure it'll work with ac current, I gotta feeling you'll have the same issue's as with HID. But I could be wrong
