• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stuck on the trail..,.

Well stuck on the trail again.... Same thing as before, fuses keep blowing. I noticed about a month or so ago that the rear brake light was stuck in the on position, didn't really pay it much attention. It was one of those things I figure I could get fixed when I had it at the dealer for something else. Three weeks ago it ran fine, but when I went to start it one morning and it was completely dead. I investigated and saw the main 20 amp fuse was blown. So I replaced it and it ran fine for the next couple of weeks, did about three rides since then without issue. Last weekend, I went for a ride and all was good but still had the rear brake light issue. I stopped for a lunch break and parked the bike, key out of the ignition. When I returned it was dead and the fuse blown. I tried a spare fuse but it blew as soon as I put it in. My earlier problems were because some ignition wires were run improperly under the battery case. I am not sure if this is related to that problem, but am guessing that since it is no longer in warranty I am not going to get much help from the dealer unless I pay the hefty labor to trouble shoot the whole electrical system. Just frustrated that I have about 1K on this bike so far and I keep running into these electrical issues.

If I were you, I would be blowing my own fuse right now !

Must be a reason for that fuse blow wing.

Check that the wires in the sheath running down the main vertical frame bar between the exhaust headers are not shorting because their insulation has melted - See post #4 on this thread:

Funny thing when I was looking at different bikes, I had it stuck in my head that I only had a six month warranty. I guess because all of the motocross bikes I looked at were six months... Anyway, once I learned I had a one year warranty I was a happy camper. I took it back to Tri County and they did a very good job taking care of the problem, even offered to pick up my bike for me. Long story short, when I had this problem before I had a local independent shop work on it. They only put a band aid over the problem and didn't actually re-route the wires away from the battery. That sucks because I actually paid those guys to fix the problem! Talking to the tech at Tri County, he said it was a problem they have seen before where the wires from the rectifier run too close to the bottom of the battery and as you ride they will wear through. For me, he said he pulled the wires away from the battery with zip ties and also wrapped them in some sort of heavy insulation. I feel like an idiot to have fallen victim to the same dam problem twice. You know I went to the local shop the first time because I was too lazy to drive the 80 miles for the dealer, lesson learned I guess.

I wouldn't feel like an idiot...I think we've all been through similar and- good for you- you were willing to post up results to save others from the potential confusion/headaches. Thanks for the update and glad to hear it's sorted.
