• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Strada wheels on my Terra

Matt Crawley

Husqvarna
AA Class
I picked up some Strada wheels last week. Bought on ebay from a UK seller and had shipped to the US. I purchased complete wheels with brake discs, ABS sensors, hub and sprockets AND tires. The tires are the Strada OEM Metzeler Tourance EXP with minimal miles. The factory printing is still visible on the tread.

These wheels are 19" front, 17" rear compared to the 21"/18" set up on my Terra. The front rim/tire is considerably wider. Rear tire is the same width.

I have them all taped up and will paint them black over the next few days. I will update with more photos then.

Dammit, I did this years ago but left them the original color. I'm going to be p.o.'d if I have to take them off and paint them black.

Damn......
I keep telling myself I don't need to paint mine black, but they do look good.
What did you paint them with?

I used VHT High Temp Wheel paint in Satin Black. I figured the brake discs might transfer heat into the wheel so going with a high temp option made sense.

I like the paint so far and it is supposed to be very durable. One thing I don't like is that it's one those "re-coat within one hour or wait seven days before recoating" paints. I have a small area I would like to touch up but didn't want to leave the masking tape on for another week.

Got the wheels mounted late last night and took them out for a short test this morning.

Bike feels substantially lower. I will report back with more thoughts and photos in a little bit.

Several of us have both wheel sets.
I much prefer the 19/17's on the road, the bike feels more planted and the turn in is quicker.
Mine also exhibits much less wobble (boarding on none at all) with the 19/17's but some of that might be tires I have on the 21/18's.

Even off pavement the 19/17's are pretty good as long as the surface is not loose/soft, there the 21/18's are better.
I tend to run my 19/17's the most and really on use the 21/18's when I know I am going to be in a lot of sand or running single track.
Note however that I don't see a lot of rocks where I typiclay ride.

Looks sharp. Curious about how it handles in the turns compared to the 18/21.

Way quicker turn in. Lower and more stable. I find myself riding 5-10mph faster than with Terra wheels. Just smoother and more confident. Seems to float around a little less on the highway.

I wonder if any of the G650 bikes wheels will fit. I've source a rear Strada but not a front.
For road play the 21" front doesn't add any advantage that's for sure. I bet it's a fun(er) bike with those wheels...
I doubt I'll do much dirt with this bike if I decide to keep it a while.

Anyone out there wanting to move their extra Strada wheels, ket me know...
