  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc steering stem brgs?

Does anyone have a steering stem bearing kit available besides a factory dealer. Ordered an All Balls kit from Rocky Mountain but its not right. When I go to the All Balls site they don't even list one. Anybody else????

Whats the number on the bearings your taking out?
My bike 360 were trailer bearings timikn l44610 were the sealed ones. Not sure if those are the same as your 250 or not but im 83% sure they are the very same.

Swear that those numbers wernt there when i posted my reply... Yup standard trailer bearings grab thdm off ebay for bext to notthing or a teailer company for £4 each here. But timkins are tripple that. Your call

after i got started replacing my brgs I noticed my wxc steering head has a FRONT steering stop on it but my lower triple has adjustable bolts on the REAR. Someone has welded the stops on the frame. They did a good job doin this but it answers maybe some other questions, like why the Husky brand front fender holes did'nt line up. Also the 45 Zoke Magnums i've seen on other '96 models have a Husky (H) on the lower outside part of the fork, mine dont. mine also has a carbon fiber looking decal on the lower legs also which the '96 KTM's had. So i'm not sure what I have.

they did come with 45mm conventional forks that year, not sure about the decal business
there should be an H (gun sight) on the bottom of the lower leg as i recall
my KTM 50mm conventional forks had KTM on the bottom part of the lower leg

odd..i have the showa 43mm on my 95 with the logo cast on each bottom. perhaps they are aftermarket forks and not from another model?

i was thinking along that train but what struck me as odd is why would they buy aftermarket that they already had

Ya kind of odd, they are goin to House of Horsepower friday, Rick will know where they came from.

could have been crashed and bent, who knows. you mess around with old bikes long enough you will see some weird things
