  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Steering stem bearings?

What diameter is the steering stem ? 25mm or 29mm ? I believe the all balls kit is for the 25mm stem.

Alright, so 09 uses the 29mm.
I will just order a set from Husqvarna rather than deal with Allballs.
I thought I might be able to get it cheaper that way, but it would only be a couple dollar difference.

I thought there was only one set of bearings for the stem on 04-10 bikes? Which ones are changed?

there is 2 listings for the 07
part #'s in bold

the part listing for 09 is the second one (29mm) and has the same part #.

WM 25 1513 07001 2 Cuscinetto (25-50-17,5) Bearing (ø25xØ50x17,5 mm) Roulement (25-50-17,5) Lager (ø25xØ50x17,5 mm) Cojinete (25-50-17,5)

C 25 8000 87243 2 Cuscinetto (29-48-17,5) Bearing (ø29xØ48x17,5 mm) Roulement (29-48-17,5) Lager (ø29xØ48x17,5 mm) Cojinete (29-48-17,5)

OK, I found out some things everyone needs to know. The Newer style bearing does not have a 48mm OD. The parts fiche is wrong and calls it a 29x48x17 bearing, when it is actually a 29x50mm bearing!

Somehow I managed to miss this detail because I didn't measure my frame. I was concerned with stem dimensions and measured those, but for whatever reason I did not measure the frame. So I apologize for that! I have been using and telling the wrong info!:hammer:

Verified info:
Since the beginning of time, Husky has used 2 different bearings, a 25x50mm bearing and a 29x50mm bearing. So if you want to swap newer triples onto the older bikes with the 25mm steel stem, all you need to do is order the 29x50mm bearings from a 2006-newer TC or any model '08 and newer. Swap bearings/races into your frame and you're good to go.
**I can't say for certain if the races can be swapped between bearings tho. Even though the OD is the same on both, there may be internal differences in the two bearings. I tried swapping it, and while it feels like it works, I will not say it works. Because in my experience, I have seen minor differences in bearing internals that would make them different from another bearing with the exact same external dimensions.
