  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Steering Dampner on TE310-Options?

HUSQVNA

Husqvarna
AA Class
Giving some serious thought to putting a dampner on my TE310, but don't really want to raise the bar height on the bike, although wouldn't be the end of the world. Anyone know of a unit out there that they can give some feed back on in regard to performace, fit, etc in regard to the Husky? Had nothing but GPR's on my KTM's and had nothing bad to say about them. Free annual service was a bonus too!

I picked up a used WER unit for a song for my 250. I had a Scotts on my 450 and liked it, but it felt heavy up so high and raised the bars more than I liked. Neither bike 'needed' a stabilizer for the typical riding I do, but occasionally when feeling in the groove and pushing it, I knew one would help mellow the odd hit that wants to yank the grips from your hands.

The WER mount on top of the fender, couldn't be more pleased with it's performance. An oil refresh takes all of 10 mins. including removal and reinstall on the bike.

I usually ride rocky single track, as opposed to open desert. IMHO, Scotts is probably better for open, high speed, where you use and need on the fly adjustment. WER for tighter, twisty, rocky. More set it and forget it.

I put the Scotts sticker on just for grins...it's gone now. I should mention, both bikes had LTR revalve and respring (and numerous hours dialing in both ends to my tastes) done prior to adding stabilizer. Do this first, then add stabilizer, otherwise stabilizer can mask poorly setup suspension and you won't realize the value of either.

Yeah, I like the concept of the Motosportz better than the GPR/Scotts or the WER as the MZ unit doesn't use any knobs. They're also easy to deal with which goes a long way to boot. From the picures, it appears to have quite a bit of bar rise though. Any idea how much it adds to the overall bar height?

Love the Motosportz damper on my TXC.

It raises the bars a little over a half inch, or an inch if you use the stock spacers with the kit. I needed the extra height being a bit on the tall side though. :D
