  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stator Rewind

Has anybody had their stator rewound? On my 09 TE510 my stator is dying, so instead of buying a new one from Husky I was thinking of having it rewound back to what it is or for more output if possible. Anybody had this done before and if so who by?

Dustin

The only name that continuously comes up is ricky stator. Just type that name into google and it will come up with the website.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I have heard of Ricky Stator and I know they are a good company. Was just wondering if anybody has had their Husky stator rewound. I sent them an email to see if they can and how much it might be. It would be nice if they can for cheap and also get more power out of it. Nice to run a better light so I can actually ride at night and see where I'm going.

I already tried that route, but it is for the TXC and won't work for the TE. Thanks for the tip though. I got a reply back saying they still rewind stators and it will be $125.00, but I need to take some pictures of the stator to make sure that they can rewind it.

No go on Ricky Stator. They don't rewind stators like in the TE. He called it a straight 3 phase stator. He did tell me to try Custom Rewind. Have to do some research and see what I can find on them and see what they offer. Called them up and had to send him a picture of it. He got the picture and said he can rewind it. It will be $125.00 to rewind the stator and ship it back. So total will probably be about $135.00 and turn around time would be about 3 days in shop to rewind.

I have been dealing with Custom Rewind for 20 years their Great folks and have gone above and beyond the call of duty on a few wierd stators I have gotten them into.Rickys has alsio been great,Gary and Steve at CR are just great folks.

I think I've heard from someone who had their SMR stator respond by trail tech for more output.. The SMR stator would be the same as TE stator

The stator is already down at Custom Rewind and they are going to rewind it for more power output. I think they are going to go to a bigger gauge wire than stock.

Is that all thats done to get more wattage? bigger GA wire and maybe more wraps? Been a while since looked into it

Got the stator back and it deffently looks different. I can't tell if they put bigger wire in it or not, but they coated it with some green stuff to protect it from heat and oil. Hopefully bolt it up tonight and see what I get. It took a total of 12 days with shipping. Total cost was about $135. Here's a couple of before and after pics.
