• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Starter Motor Runs On

CrankN

Husqvarna
AA Class
My bike has been sitting for 18 months and have recently been giving it some love to get it back up and running.
Have pulled the starter motor down and replaced brushes and also have replace the starter solinode as both had issues.
With no fuel in the carb i hit the button and she turned over, but even when i took my finger off the button it kept turning over. Even after i turned my key to OFF it kept turning over until the battery went flat, with me running round trying to find a way to disconnect it.
So now the battery is on the charger but i need to know what has happened to make it run on. What do you think?

I would check the starter relay with a multimeter to see if it's jammed on.

I replaced mine (2014 TE300) with one on eBay similar to the picture below. It jammed on after only 1 day of use. The internals had burrs everywhere due to crap quality.

Replaced it with a genuine relay at 6x the price and no more problems. Look for the brand name JIDECO on the relay. Cheap ones don't have any branding.

It is an aftermarket one...... :(

For some reason when the solenoid is triggered it won't 'untrigger'.

Remove the thick cables on each side of the relay (battery positive lead and starter motor connectors) and check the resistance of the relay with a multimeter. Zero ohms means it's jammed and needs to be replaced.
