  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

stalled by a trust washer!!!

I am seeking advice on how I can get my starter fixed. I live in Canada and the closest dealer is 3 1/2 hours away. I managed to find the worm gear and shaft that usually breaks down on the starter.
I dropped the bike and the parts and the bike at the dealer and now they tell me that they can't fix it because they are unable to get a trust washer as it is back ordered indefinitely (part#8000A7062) I checked with Hall cycle in Illinois and Mot City in Arizona and neither of them had that washer.

Is there anyone that has any suggestions on how to get this washer???
I just can't believe I can't get electric starter because of a washer. Can we get specs on such a washer? is it possible to source it out from somewhere else?
I do believe that the Italian factory were my bike came from is still producing dirt bikes under another name now but I just don't know what brand. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it!

Huskymoto.co.uk has them for $7...the shipping from the UK might be a little pricey though.

I may have one lying around somewhere.

if you can't get one, let me know.

I'm going to Vancouver in two weeks.

I usually try motosport first...but a lot of times on harder to find parts their list says "ships in 2-3 days"...so I order it and then a couple days later I get an e-mail from them saying "Sorry, this part is no longer available". When you go back to their list they don't update it to say "this part is discontinued".

You are correct, if it doesn't say in stock move on, they don't have the part or know anything about it.

When Motosport sends me the emails asking if I want to cancel or keep the part on order I usually keep it on order. It will take a few weeks to get but there hasn't been a part they couldn't get.

When you get to Vancouver, go to Brighouse Auto Electric in Richmond. They will be able to repair it even if they have to make the washer themselves. It may not be cheap but I've found them to do good work and it's incredible on the diversity of equipment they work on.
