• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

spinning inserts

I am totally exasperated at the moment. Apparently every time I wash or do anything to my WR125, it looses spark.:banghead: I fixed it before by pulling everything apart (thankfully there isn't much) and putting it back with dielectric grease. However, I put my shrouds on with blue locktite and when I go to back the bolts out, the damned inserts spin.:foul: Does anyone know a real good fix for this? My time is precious and silly things like really get to me. I'm thinking of yanking them out and setting them back in JB weld but there may be a much smarter way that I'm not seeing. Help please.

First off, never use locktite on any of the body panel bolts. I normally use anti-seize and I do not over tighten them. There are some threads on how to repair the tank bolt ones but if it has a 8mm head and is in the plastic part of the tank the trick is to get it to spin fast enough to melt the plastic. Once you get it out I have used 5 minute epoxy with good results. I use a electric impact gun to spin it fast enough and if possible I put some pressure behind shroud to get it to pull out. Take your time and don't get frustrated.

If your sub frame inserts spin there is a tool they make to put new ones in. I have also seen people drill a hole on the backside to use a nut.

Thanx. I've already drilled and used nuts on the subframe. I can hopefully back the bolts out with my drill motor. And anti- sieze it shall be.

Instead of using Loctite on the plastics fasteners, I suggest using RTV. It keeps them in place & seals the threads from water, corrosion etc., yet doesn't cause them to stick, which can spin the insert.

Works well, I've done it for 5 years now.

Thanx Slowpoke, I doubt that I would have thought of that. It's amazing how many goops and goos that we have available these days.
