• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sparkplug Caps - non resistor

PEZBerq

Husqvarna
AA Class
I can't find a local source of non resistor sparkplug caps for my 84 Husky 510 TE. Does any one know where I can track down the straight resistor caps for a fourstroke with 10mm spark plugs. Can't believe how hard these are to find.

Photo below of the rebuild. Just need the motor finished now.

I am after a non resistor plug. The less resistance the better chance of a good spark from an old ignition system! Can the resistor be removed from the cap?

If you look inside the resistor cap, on some you will see a brass section with a slot across it, just unscrew with a screwdriver, remove the resistor and replace it with a piece of metal the same length as the resistor that came out.
I have done this with many resistor caps over the years, perhaps not tv friendly but it does ensure the full available spark at the plug.
Tony.

I went threw the same deal. I tried NGK to no avail. The easiest thing to do is to stop by Your local NAPA Dealer as they have them. A marine store that deals with outboard motors will to.

Hi Guys,

This is interesting,

"Where resistance in the secondary loop is desired, it should be placed in only one of the three possible locations: wire or

cap or plug.

Otherwise there is too much resistance which results in a weaker spark."

My bike has a resistor cap and the plugs I have been using are resistor plugs.

I might try the trick of removing the resistor from the plug cap as well.

Cheers, Dave.

I know on my 08 Husky Wr 250. I had to run a non resistor plug.
I accidentally put a resistor plug in and had all sorts of issues.
Took me while to figure it out.
