  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

spark plug recess removal.

So I am trying to get my bike ready to go, and I need to change my valves. So bassically I need to get bearing mount out, but the spark plug recess is in the way of one bolt. The shop manual says I need to simply "remove spark plug recess" but I really can't seem to do it. It has a little give, but I don't want to force anything, is there something I am missing? I took the spark plug out already. Does it thread in somewhere? 2013 te511 btw

So I was an idiot and you do simply "remove it". I am just gonna keep this thread around in case there are any other noobs around who have trouble pulling it out. I wound up using the rubberized handles on some pliers to put on either side and pry it up. It just took a little bit more force than I was willing to put on without being absolutely sure it was the correct way to do it.

Don't sweat it as working on bikes can be a little tricky from time to time ... Just putting a plug wrench in the plug socket on my 010 TC250 is a little more difficult than expected due in part because of a large rubber gourmet sealing off oil from the valve cover from the plug or something like that ... It was a PITA the first time for me ...
