  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc sorry another Jetting question .. '01 WR 360 w/PWK

I have a couple 'newbie' questions regarding fine tuning of my jetting, I understand there are several variables with regards to this 'black science' but nonetheless here goes...and since i had no interest when trying to sell i'm going to keep her for a while!

'01 Husky WR360 w/PWK Airstriker carb, run Yamaha R2 oil, 50:1, always fresh gas & clean filter. I have freshly rebuilt engine.
Air screw 1.75 - 2 out....hard for me to tell idle difference when adjusting this, only when it dies!
Red needle, position 5 (top position)
40 pilot
162 main
N. GA, ele 500-1000 feet
Plug is DARK Chocolate Brown

I could live with this jetting but think it will clean up with further adjustment. Thinking of 38 pilot, and adjust clip as needed.

Ride mostly single track and half the time at local riding area Highland Park in N. GA. Mostly 1/4 to 1/2 throttle usage, seems to carburate clean wide open. I believe i'm close with jetting, plug doesn't foul nearly as much as in the past; however when on long ride , 1/2 to 1 mile it loads up under constant throttle, will clean up with revving. I'm going to try lowering my pilot one size, adjust needle as necessary.

I have been using the attached Jetting Guide as a reference, should I? It seems to be thorough, having steps thru all circuits, air screw, pilot, needle & main.

1 - will bike smoke when lean?
2 - I have been using Spankys Jetting guide, good reference? http://users.conwaycorp.net/virtus/page2/speed/jetting.htm
3 - having trouble hearing "bog" vs "sputters"

Thanks!!
Kirk
