  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well when I did pick up the bike in St. Louis I we t back to my hotel then later that week I was out in the field for a good 5 days. The following Monday I was able to get a battle buddy and go to flat and nasty for it test spin. I kept asking around post at all of the riding shops and they said they didn't know of any other places. Then I called the sheriffs to see if there were any areas where it was legal around there and he said there wasn't. I wish there were closer places but flat and nasty gave her a bit of a run. Ran two tanks of gas through her BBQ with other LTs while I was there. I converted two so they should be looking for a husky now.

South of the fort there are some legal forest service roads that are intertwined with outlaw single track. I know guys that have ridden in that area on and off for 30 years and have yet to see law enforcement. I think the federal forest service guys ride quads or drive pick up trucks and are mostly interested in catching people who litter. I'm new to the area so I've been going with guys who know which trails are legal.

The little WR144 is STUPID FUN!...

He caught on quick to the 125 routine of momentum, revs, and shifting and was really hauling the mail at the end of Thursday before we had to pack up and call it an AWESOME two days !

HR

The things we did to the wr made an amazing difference in the motor. The motor really woke up with the pipe and it was amazingly quiet. I guess it helps to have packing. The most noticeable mod though was the suspension and pegs. The stiffer springs really helped with the kick stand that I thought really sucked actually work. The fact I wasn't blowing through all the travel on the rear now is also very helpful. The foot peg mod is a must for any wr owner. By lowering the footprint you really increase the control you have with your legs and makes the transitions from standing to sitting much easier on our body. Plus it's free, you really can't beat that. Overall the revisions we made we spot on. The only other things that need to get purchase and put on is a new lower radiator shroud and radiator guards. After that bike is perfect.
