    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Someone here buy a new breather pipe? Here's why I ask...

Hi Gang-

This is for my TE630. I'm pretty sure I read someplace that someone bought a new breather pipe, but have no idea who that was or what thread it's in....can't find it. It's the pipe that goes from the airbox to the valve cover. Mine is way too short (shrunk- weird) and the extension I made isn't working as well as I'd hoped.

Hall's (in the parts catalog) has it listed as 8B00 H1033. I talked to a parts rep at Hall's and he says he's not seeing that as the number for my bike in his system (which doesn't make sense, but he seemed interested/helpful.) Says he'll talk to Husky and call me back- I'll let you know what I learn. My concern, obviously, is that I want to get the right one- not another that's too short.

Anyway, in the off off chance that whoever bought one reads this, and happens to have the part number (like on their receipt or something) that would be great.

I bought a length of heater hose and a couple of stainless hose clamps of appropriate length and ID from a local auto parts store to replace mine. Mine was also really really short.
 
Thanks man. Yes- I took mine to an auto parts store but couldn't find anything suitable. What they had was either too thick walled or too far off on inner diameter...or too soft. Maybe I'll try another place but, for now, it's on the bike so I'm able to ride.
 
I guess it's heat or fuel vapors or something that makes it shrivel up, but mine has done the same thing.
It's not short enough to need replacing yet but it sure is a pain to get back in there if you remove it.
 
Yes- mine was really short...like at least an inch. Crazy shrinkage, as Costanza would say.

So I heard back from Hall's. They say they talked to Husky and the part is out of production and is no longer offered. Bit of a bummer, so I guess I'll have to hunt something down or perhaps add in an extension of sorts (which I did, but this one will have to be better- a sturdy bridge/connector that just fits the I.D. snugly that can be clamped solidly in place.) It's that or start some cross referencing to see if there's another that fits.
 
Update: I know this isn't an end-all part (as it can be extended or replaced with something else) but still want to update to help others in the future.

I talked to BMP (CH sponsor) and they were kind enough to look into it. Got a call back and, to my surprise, it's available. Turns out the cited part # of 8B00 H1033 has been superseded by a new one. I wasn't in a position to jot it down but will post that up when I receive it. A hair less than 13 bucks...20 w/ shipping. I can live w/ that.
 
Good news.

For this kind of thing it would be interesting to know if the SWM650 parts catalog could help out...

Good point...been thinking about just that myself. Really keeping my fingers crossed for SWM to follow through on coming to the U.S., and hopeful many parts will work for our 630's (though, based on what I've seen, there are more differences than many of realized.)

You're lucky to have two 610's. That's the bike I really wanted when I bought the 630. Much longer production run so hopefully parts aren't too big of a pain for you.

Can't tell where you are from. But in the US, I was able to find a car crankcase breather tube at O'Reilly that worked well.

Thanks man. Yeah, back then (when I had to fabricate an extension to this tube after my engine re-install) I did go to a couple of auto parts stores but wasn't able to find anything that was thin walled- and still stiff enough- to use. Had I found a more helpful parts person maybe it would have turned out differently.

Anyway I just wanted to post up the part # in case anyone going forward was after the right factory tube.
 
A small bonus: The tube is long enough for 2 uses. I fitted mine as 'slack' as possible so it'll last as long as possible (which isn't much, as narrow as the routing space is but hey, every mm counts.)

The spring inside screwed w/ my head. :) It's in the end that attaches to the airbox. Tight to get out, and a real blast to re-fit into the new one deep enough. Yeah, I'd agree- probably isn't necessary. I decided to keep it because the bend (over/around the hump on the back of the box, when both ends are attached) would (with time and heat) flatten out a bit..so why not replace it in there. The trick, as you guys would guess, is to turn it so that the coils tighten/get smaller, as you twist it in. Still a bit of an annoying thing but what the he*l.

I'll tell you though- I thought it was gonna be easy w/out removing the tank. It was for the most part- just used the old hose to pull the new through- but man that new stuff is hard to get over the connectors. Tight space so it ended up being easier to remove the tank. I hate removing the tank, but that's only b/c I'm a bit paranoid as I was among the few of us who had to deal w/ re-sealing a persistent fuel pump leak owing to tank warpage...so hate fiddling w/ that assembly (and that fuel connector always feels amazingly fragile- but I sure have had that tank off many times and have never been gentle with it and it's never given me grief, thankfully.)
