• 4 Stroke Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Italy - About 1989 to 2014
    TE = 4st Enduro & TC = 4st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The engine performance of the two new cross-country enduro bikes has been considerably enhanced, as the power output and torque curves clearly illustrate. Compared to their predecessors, output and torque have received a major boost over the entire usable rev range on both the TXC 250 R and the TXC 310 R. The new TXC 310 R benefits from nearly 5 per cent more maximum output and an increase in peak torque of around 8 per cent, while maximum output and torque on the new TXC 250 R have both been upped by approximately 8 per cent. The additional power and torque are primarily a result of the redesigned cylinder head, the new fuel injection system as well as the exhaust manifold’s new layout.

To make the bikes even more competitive, the previous hot-start device has been dispensed with following the introduction of the new fuel injection system. The engine housing has been fitted with a new magnetic oil drain plug for catching metallic debris.

Will the new EFI system still require a battery? I personally hate the idea that a battery is required to make the EFI work and for hair scrambles it's always and easy way to drop a few pounds.

As far as the 2 strokes go, Yamaha, Honda or Kaw aren't doing anything ground breaking either. At least Husky still offers a 2 stroke.

You may be on to something. The 2012 TXC310 is listed at 240.5 lbs curb, the 2013 TXC310R is listed at 231.5 lbs curb. Dropping the battery would be the quickest way to help get to a 9lb loss. However, I haven't seen anything to confirm this idea.

What is the finger-follower valve-train? Does this mean self or easier adjusting valves? I have no idea on this stuff

Its just a different way to captivate the shims. They aren't self adjusting. The 2010-2012 TE/TXC have buckets that sit on top of the valve spring/shim and then the cam lobes push on the buckets. The older style engine (like the 2010 and older 450/510) used the finger-followers. My KTM also uses them. The "finger followers" are on a little hinge and as the cams turn, they push those fingers down. The fingers make direct contact with the shims sitting on top of the valve/spring/keeper. I'm certainly no expert on the matter, but I like them from the standpoint of working on the bike because you don't have to worry about dropping an expensive bucket on the ground (which I did once and got lucky that it landed on a towel). It sounds like there are performance advantages too.

2012 TC250 with the new EFI and head is kick start only. All the TE are battery versions as they have to have a battery anyway.

Corona, CA – June 28, 2012 – Excitement is building as the days count down to X Games Enduro X! Factory Husqvarna riders Cory Graffunder, Kyle Redmond, Alex Salvini and Andreas Lettenbichler have come together in Southern California to train and prepare for the big event on Sunday, July 1 at the STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles, CA.
The riders will compete aboard TXC310 motorcycles, but Salvini has the distinct privilege of riding Husqvarna’s newest racer, the 2013 TXC310R. The re-vamped model, which was only revealed to the public last week in Italy, boasts the powerful new Red Head motor, and Salvini’s No. 9 machine is the first to appear on U.S. soil. Watch for it on ESPN’s live TV coverage!

looks like he DNQ for main
"It was truly an international effort for Husqvarna as four riders from four different countries came together for X Games. CH Racing Husqvarna’s Alex Salvini made the trip from Italy, and turned some heads by qualifying sixth in his first-ever EnduroCross race. Extreme enduro ace Andreas Lettenbichler made the trek from Germany, and joined American EnduroCross regular Kyle Redmond in flying the Husqvarna colors in the STAPLES Center.
Both European riders rode strong, but didn’t have enough luck on their side and barely missed qualifying for the main. “This was a huge international event,” Lettenbichler explained. “We came into X Games not really knowing what to expect. It was a good lesson on what we need to work on for next year. I can’t wait to come back!”"

Cory Grafunder got bronze on a Husky and is from BC, he has been doing great, qualified 1st in his heat and got third in the main in Idaho.
