• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Eric and I celebrated his birthday and the ending/beginning of good years up at Stonyford.
I didn't get too many photos but you can tell the weather was great, even though the trails were mostly dusty.

The trusty steeds carried us through 45 miles of the best single track Stonyford has to offer...40, 20, 3, 7. Took M5 down to the southern start of 4 and rode it start to finish. 45, 12, 6, 43, 33, 35, 36 and then down icky Potato Hill...

Our friends Dan and Lesley joined us later that night and we celebrated Eric's birthday and the beginning and ending of good years with cake and champagne. No cameras allowed :busted:

A little love to start the year off right...

The trails have retained their character, pretty much, but the views are vastly different. This is 15, one of my favorites at Stonyford...

My turn...

I switched bikes with Dan before the singletrack at the bottom...37, I think it is? Dan was impressed with the gnarly grunt of my 165, and I was impressed with the plushness and power of his 450. It eats rocks for breakfast and is very smooth. Would make a nice dualsport

We finished the day with 35 miles on the clock. We basically reversed the previous day's route and threw in the entirety of 15 just for fun. A great day riding with 2 of my all-time favorite riding buddies, and a great way to say "so long" to 2013 and "Welcome!" to 2014.

Woodschick, thanks for the write up. Stoney is in my backyard too..Haven't been there since the fire. Happy new year.

Awesome write up and you guys crack me up. Good stuff just having a Ez going good time. Love it. I've been to stony, I think the exact same place. The burn is actually kinda cool. How much burned in the ride area? Thanks for sharing.

God those trails look like fun! (and no, I'm not mistaking you for God)...

Well, it would be totally understandable if you did

Oh heck....put a paper bag over our heads and we.....will run into a tree.:D:p

Yep! :D

Looks good! So different from what we ride back here.

Yeah, these photos make it look really wide open, not like the tight nasty stuff you have back east. I need to get better photos of the rest of the trails.

Thanks, Kelly. Almost the whole area burned. It was almost uncanny...when looking at the boundary of the fire it almost mirrored the riding area boundary exactly.

Oh, tell Eric he looks 20 when he smiles so we can see him smiling more. We know he is having a blast. Also, does the new knife have a cork screw?

file_zps6cb2327a.jpg

Why, yes, as a matter of fact it does have a corkscrew!

Nice. You guys are very fortunate. Great thread.

Boy, don't I know it! Thanks for checking it out!

Looks like great fun,its pouring rain and warm 52 here but all that dry dirt sure looks fun.

I would practically kill for some warm rain. So much dust...I'd much rather deal with mud, for sure.

A minor missive this time Woodsie; still a wonderful read. Belated Happy Birthday to Eric and Happy New Year and great riding in 14 to both of you.

Great report. I haven't been there since the fire either but it looks like it was pretty devastating to the forest. Awesome pics as always and a belated happy B-day to Eric.
