• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So Cal National Hare and Hound

Husqvarna
AA Class
Just raced the So Cal national this past weekend and was a good race. Very well organized and nice course with a mix of everything. Looked like there was quite a few Huskys out there as well. Bummer to see a small bore 2t broken down on the second loop. I got 5th Hwt "C". My sister raced her first two loop national and took first in class Women "B". Unfortunately she was on her Yamaha and not the Husky. I believe others on this forum were out there as well. I am going to try and get some helmet cam footage of the race up soon.

Still working on the video, but got some pics from the race.

I believe this is Ajaxauto from this forum

Not sure who this is but thought they were cool pics anyways.

you can see alot of action up front here, Kendall, Kurt, Destry tight with young gun Jake right behind them, Big Dave getting outta shape and Nick Bs TXC511 flowing well through the rocks with Dave K working on him. You can see Ty D on the hill with photog Mark Kariya as well.

The video is cool. The video of the downhill doesn't do it justice. It looks nasty. Before the race there was a very small goat trail that went halfway up the hill. I didn't expect them to make you go down it.

The only times I have had course sight fright was at Nat H&Hs and especially those D37 ones Ive done, some of those hard sharp rocky loose downhills are severly butt puckering and not just quick chutes but long almost out of control downhills. The uphills are also gnarley and super technical, but that gravity pull on the down hills is more scary to me. That hill in the video is alot steeper and off camber/side hill than it looked from the wide view, you can see it when Beau moved to the edge of the trail and shot up the hill as the riders passed. Even the first bomb hill was steep and rocky right from the start, Caselli's roost was sick, it was bowling ball sized. How'd you score? I always look for the HUS markers in the results.

Yeah some of the down hills are nasty. Definitely not my favorite part. I don't mind going uphill, but not much for coming back down. Actually the one at the beginning wasn't bad at all. I really need to get on editing my video footage for the race. I got 5th in class and 28 OA for 2 loops.

Thought i had a good day but finished like 7 overall of the 2 loopers 6th in the combined 250 /open third in the open class Rode the Wr 300 the more i ride this bike i wounder how did i ever beat the open class on my CR 125
Yes that is a picture of me and also in the video at the first hill i am showen trying to get up after a guy in front of me crashed, atleast it did not stall
Ty had his whole team out there with nic on the 511 Jamie and Ryan on TC 250 .Side note Ryan had never been in the desert or at a National before He did great to finish where he did. Hope to see more of the team come out again
