  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So....about that mesh oil filter

Feel like a bit of an idiot for having to ask, but anyone care to share where exactly I can find it? I did the oil change but for the life of me couldn't figure out where it was. A picture would be awesome. Oh, I'm referring to a 2012 310TE. Thanks as always guys.

On my 2010 TC there is a small screen filter(cylindrical) just inside where the drain plug is. I use a bent tip pick to pull it out.

Hey gp, it's behind that hose barb thing your dealer told ya not to worry about:doh: I've got a '12 so I have to drain mine there, prolly a good idea to check it while your breaking her in to look for bad things. Haven't seen much on mine, '12TXC310 w/6hrs & 3 oil changes....

I thought mine was missing as I could not see it... It is inset about 1/2 inch. I have a long carb screwdriver I carefully slid it out with. It's about 3 inches long...

That was the plan (to clean it), but after trying to find it and subsequently saying some very bad words about whoever the designer was that decided not to put a regular BOLT/PLUG, I decided to just change the oil and filter and call it a day. I figured I'd find out where it is here and do it the next time. I have 250 miles on it (sorry, not used to the hours thing yet) so I think I'm ok. So this is where it is then, right?

Yeah trust me I have the owners manual on my Ipad and had it right there next to me nice and bright. What I was seeing didn't look anything like that picture. But it makes sense now.
