    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

ok so I bought my 630 when husky had the sale only because I could not find a drz400sm. I love my bike but it does need to be maintained I have done power up kit and power commander mods. I haven't gotten to the sprockets or the airbox yet. now I love my bike but I bought a supermoto to use down stairs loading docks and ripping wheelies and the 630 so far sucks at that. im not gunna lie tho cruzing on the freeway at 3800 rpm is nice. I just cant wheelie it to save my life. I can sell for about 6500 which is actually more then I paid and pick up a 2013 drz400sm for 7000 otd should I do it or will the sprocket and exhaust make the difference so I can wheelie. sounds stupid ik but I want a sidewalk loading dock terror and right now I got a cruiser. thank you
 
Buy what you want, but if you can't wheelie a 630, you won't find a DRZ much easier unless you gear it down enough to be... uncomfortable... on the highway.

The 630 has 15/38 sprockets, so until you get to those, you won't have the instant grunt you're looking for. Also, the 630 has the longer non-SMR swingarm, so that helps keep the front down as well.

Personally I don't have a problem with my 630 with stock gearing, bouncing it up in 2nd or clutching it up in 3rd. Opened the factory exhaust and added a JD tuner, and that helped a lot with the power delivery.
 
Go ride a DRZ.

Not going to lie, I had a 2011 SMS630 with P/U back in 11, along with my 2008 DRZ. I couldnt feel much of a diffence. I wrote it off as my SMS was a Friday build.

However, my most recent purchase, a 2011 TE630 with 2K on the clock and P/U kit seems to RIP!

It the TE ECU! The power delivery is much better. Put a TE ECU in it and enjoy. You need to gut the cans, get slip ons or buy a full exhaust and gut the air box so it can breath
 
My buddy had a 2011 sm 630 and I would leave him everywhere on my 09 TE 610. That was stock vs stock. The highway was the only time he could get me. One other thing I forgot to ad in my 1st reply was change your gearing. If you want to ride stairs and hop loading docks your bike won't work well on the highway or vice versa. JMHO

Oh yeah, forgot that I have a TE ECU as well.

It didn't make that much difference tearing up the mountain, but it makes the response down low a lot snappier to grunt that front end up and such. Only downside is when you're trying to putt through a wet field on street tires and you can't keep the rear planted because the throttle gets jumpy.

I think they should have come with the TE ECU and the TE should have come with the SMS ECU for more delicate throttle control down low.
 
Don't know why you guys feel the SM is that slow. I've got a sm630 with just the power up and it kicks pretty good.. No problem to knock off 100 mph as fast as my TE630 with single Leo and Tuner. Almost felt like I should put the twin stock pipes back on my TE because the SM runs so good. As for wheelies neither will act like my old TE510 that would loft in the first four gears without any effort.. Believe it is all related to rake/trail, wheelbase and the cruising gearing that keeps the 630 front more planted. Soften up the rear preload. slide the forks down in the triples and lower the gearing and it should provide more loft in the first few gears. Don't forget the 610 front end sits higher with the longer front suspension travel.

As for the Suzy 400.. not ever close in performance, however you should buy what you like not what someone else likes.
 
My bike still doesn't run how I want it to either, but the mods I've done have definitely made it more of a lion than the kitten it was when I first bought it. Power up kit, JD Jetting Tuner, TE ECU, definitely more noticeable on the torque side of things. The bike has absolutely no problem power wheeling is first, if I hit the throttle hard in second the front wheel lifts a bit ( i don't weigh much), I have no doubt that once I get my new sprocket on the back (still a 38t) and torque my bolts how they're meant to be; i'll be able to clutch up in 2nd and 3rd gear without a doubt.

I'm moving across the country, luckily there are tons of Husky dealers around and after talking with RDTCU, I've decided I need to take it to a dealer and have them check a couple things for me. Once this bike gets a couple minor things worked out, I have no doubt it's going to rip just as hard as I imagined. Everyone is always surprised when they ask what size the bike is and I tell them it's a 630. It's got the potential, you just need to do some work to bring it out. I know that not everyone is a fan of that, and had I known about all this before I may not have bought it. But as it stands right now, I like the decision I made, it's a lot of bike for a supermoto and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I just want it to pull up with no effort ive ridden my buddies 400sm and it can loft the front end with no effort 1-4th you would think a 630 would do the same. I had no idea about the ecu however how much is it and what gearing could help make the bike loft the front end. ITS VERY FUSTRATING going riding with my buddies and there all pulling wheelies on 400s and 250s and here I am on a 630 cant.
 
Any bike can pull wheelies, I don't care what it is.

Do the mods that everyone else has done, or get rid of it and buy the bike you want.
 
Try dropping one tooth in front and if you want more, go up a couple in the rear. The 630 is heavy and a 250 is like a mt bike compared to the 630. It's not so much power getting the front end up, they're just lighter and its easy to pull it up. The 630 has lots of power, but stock it's just not going to work the way you want it. Your buddy on the 250 likely has a top speed of 60 mph and the 400 likely won't have much more. This is all in the gearing. Like I said before you can't have your cake and eat it too. A stunt bike will suck on the highway, like your 630 sucks at stunts right now. 14-50 gears will have you pulling the front up in 3rd with roll on and 4 and up clutching it.
 
Call Halls for ECU or check ebay. One othe thing, the 630 isn't a high reving motor. They are torquie and have good power down low through mid. Learn how to use that and you'll pull wheelies everywhere.
 
hey thanks I had no idea about the ecu I bought it today its expensive it was like $ 330 I got the air box mod from a 610 and im doing the gearing so i hope all this works. now im stuck between the fmf or the leo for a pipe what are you guys running i really like the twin arrows but i think there to nice and for that price ill be counting every scratch. you know your right about the 250 my buddy got on my bike and he thought it was huge it dosent feel all that big to me anymore. i really don't think id be happy with the 400 ether because i do like going places and people going man a husky never seen one a zook is a dime a dozen.
 
Have you ever adjusted your rear sag and how much do you weigh? Where are your forks in the triple tree? How high above the top plate?
 
My 630 is sock except for the basic PU kit with stock gearing as well. It will loft the front in 2nd and clutch up in third. On my TE310 I can still get it up easily in 5th. The big difference is I plan to still be on the 630 in 5 or 6 years, a proper stunt bike will be fun but not a long term bike. Your decision.
 
For stunt and jacking around...SMR/TE511. I have the TE511 and a DRZ400S...no comparison for power, the DRZ is a
Great bike for commuting and play biking in the woods, but the TE uncorked is another animal.

the dealer told me it really wont make a difference to adjust the forks or the sag he said id loose handling I don't really know much about that I weigh 175 is he wrong what exactly will that do


ill let you guys know how it is all done it will have te ecu powerup kit powercomander te610 airbox mod gearing and exhaust whence I settle on one. a guy down at the shop had the same issues with it as me and he said its like night and day.
