  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SMR headlight/wiring- What am I missing?!?!

LGB131

Husqvarna
I ran into a set of doors (long story) on my 2006 SMR450 and cracked the front fender and the front headlight/assembly. At some point after the crash, in my frustration undid the rubber that holds the front headlight assembly on unclipped the wires that were attached to it and threw the broken bulb/assembly in the trash.

It looks like I unhooked something important and left it attached to the headlight assembly and now the bike doesn't get any electric power. Blinkers won't blink, horn won't beep and it sure won't start. I've attached a picture of what's left in the wiring that sits behind the headlight. There's a big white connector that is connected by two wires that is visible right in the center of the picture. I think whatever was connected to that might be what I'm missing.

Somebody please let me know what I'm missing and how to get it back in place. I have the motosportz x2 headlight that I was planning to install as opposed to a new stock unit, and that headlight only has the three-wire high/low/ground headlight wires coming from it, so I can't even guess what's supposed to go into that big white clip in the picture.

Hmmm... that's upsetting. I guess I'm going to have to take it to my dealer to have them get it up and running. I don't know what I must be missing.

So I figured out that there was a 15amp fuse that plugs in at the battery that had blown. Now the bike starts, but as you guys said, the blinkers don't light up. So what exactly is it that plugs into that white connector? And it goes from where into the white connector? Basically, what exactly is it that I need to purchase and where does it go? I'm very new to all this stuff.
