  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey,

Just purchased an SMR 511 2011. I have read and heard mixed opinions about different race maps and O2 sensors.

I was thinking about getting the Arrow slip on. I know there are aluminium and titanium but are there different ones for road legal and off road??? I have been told to get the BMW race map 3. Has anyone else got this??? This is what they have been running out at R and D husky. Is there are need for a JD tuner after all this???

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks

The exhaust will probably state whether its road legal or not or it will be legal with the baffle inserted. If you run a non standard exhaust you are going to want to remove the O2 sensor and put the jumper to enable 'Race map 2'. I am in the process of trying to find a dealer that can apply the race map 3 to my SMR511. I called my local bike shop but they said the UK was not privy to RM3. I am still trying to get in contact with Huskysport (I think their phone lines are down due to the weather yesterday) to confirm about RM3.

If you are in the states there is a service on here that will reflash your ECU should you be unable to get your dealer to do it.

As for the JD tuner/ PC5 I will wait to see what race map 3 is like :)

So turns out we cant get the Race Map 3 in the UK......... unless any UK chaps can advise who can do it?

Thanks DErZ,

I am in Australia. The race map 3 has a lot more aggression than race map 2. My bike is currently at the workshop getting the tune done with a Barrett slip on exhaust. I didn't have the funds for the Akro. I was told i will be a very happy man when i get the bike back. Lets hope!!!

Have a chat with Reece at Husky Sport in Cheriton, which is about an hours ride from you. Their mechanic Pete fitted a Akra Slip on for me and remapped. What you need to ask for is the full Akra race pipe map = race map 3. Only takes 5 mins. Tried Map 2 first for just a slip on but it was rubbish and bike would not rev out. Full race pipe map is much better with more mid range for over taking.

Cheers Dougie, I have called them already and asked if they had access to the Race Map 3 and they said they have never heard of it but if your saying that its call the Akra race pipe map that might be why.

Out of interest does it show RM3 on the dash or does it still say RM2?

Just get them to load the Akra race pipe map they loaded for me (Doug Hill) last month. My dash still shows race map 2.

Cheers Doug, im up near Boxhill where are you located? I did try to message you privately but it appears Im either stupid or cant do it.

Not far away in Godalming. Bike is a bit sick at moment, think I have a worn valve guide as it smokes at bit on start up when you blip the throttle :(

Hey guys if you can't get your ecu mapped for map 3 or Akro open exhaust map 3 send it to Ziptyracing for $40 they will map it for ya. My experience with an open pipe only it will run lean. You'll need the ecu re-map so it's runs right. Once you do a pipe and ecu it's a brand new ripper (huge difference) in power. This is my te 449 but I also have a 511 with same mods. Third gear power wheelies all day longimage.jpg

Husky Sport did mine, ask for the Akra full race pipe map. They did mine when I got the slip on added. Not sure where you are, but Husky sport is in Hampshire.
