• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SMOG on ALL OHV! - a done deal!

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. Just saying that the level of technical knowledge to work at Abbot Medical versus a casino is much higher. And, for me at least, a highly technical job is more rewarding than one that is not. Not to mention they tend to pay more.

Just looking at the state of health care in the states ... I'm not gonna worry much about anything or anyone in the health care field.

Guys i wouldnt sweat this too much. California will be broke before 2018, and CARB wont be getting paid, or the LEOs to enforce it. As a LEO ill also pass this little tid bit. Only treehugger cops will be enforcing, which they do now like checking to see if your are green stickered, and have your spark arrestor. It is actually written in most county, and city codes, a law for altered exhaust. This really isnt anything new. I had a break down on my Harley in Victorville, and the Harley dealership was flipping out over my Rhinehart exhaust, cause if CARB were to inspect the shop while working on my bike they could be civilly cited. Such BS that a non government entity has that kind of power.

Funny you should mention your story:

My wife and I were at my local dealer here in San Mateo County Ca. last week trying to pick out a bike for her, (WR250R vs KLX250S) and the salesperson told us that if we went with the KLX, that we would have to jet it ourselves. And that if the carb/exhaust was altered or even adjusted, that they couldn't work on the bike at all. I guess that means if it goes in for warranty work, and some parts had fallen off, as they tend to do, I'd have to put them back on beforehand!!

You just have no idea how screwed up it really is. In fact unless you have a serious medical condition (I am the care giver for my brother, who has Parkinson's Disease, a basically untreatable degenerative nuerological disease that effects motor control) you have NO idea how screwed up the system is. And now along comes Obamacare, and the system has exploded. My brother's insurance has been taken over by the Feds and the coverage now sucks as well as the premiums have gone up. No one in any of the government or private non-profit counseling offices have any information or training to help in the transition. In fact, the only thing that we have been told on a consistent basis is that the regulations still aren't finished! This thing is supposed to roll out in October!!

This really puts it in to perspective, I couldn't IMAGINE a dealer around here working on a bike with STOCK exhaust, not really but it's close. They all have walls and walls of new take off exhaust that never got delivered because BUB's or similar were installed before new delivery.
