• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SM610...What to look for?

Dysan669

Husqvarna
I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now and this will be my first post.

There is a dealer close by with a 2007 SM610 going for R38000\$4800 with 20000km\12400miles
with no history.

What I would like to know is, is there any big signs of abuse or lengthy times between services to look out for? I obviously cant take a look at the cam but it must surely be done when if I buy it?

Also what would be considered good preventative maintenance on a bike with such high mileage?

I am in South Africa, these Huskys are quite scarce around here-Only see one or two going up for sale each month.
Second option is a 2007 SMR450RR with with 1080miles going for $7300 and thats about it for the second hand option around me

So I will need to send a couple thats for sure. I have been keeping an eye on ads for 4 months now and this bike and the other one I mentioned was the only so far worth while.
Is the cam chain tensioner something you can do yourself with required tools and knowledge or will the bike have to be sent somewhere?

The 450rr is a real race bike with intense maintenance schedule, but it would be fun! At 1k + miles it might be time to get it to the top end, especially if it's been raced. The 07 sm 610 is going to be a lot easier to keep running. Depending on what you're ridding style is will have a lot to do with which bike you buy. Both seem a bit over prices, but for South Africa's prices they might be right on. What did these bikes go for new?

The 450RR looks absolutely amazing the guy really kept it in n near new condition.
The 610 would have gone for $10k new and the 450RR is so rare over here I cant find any price info.I would estimate around $12K
It sucks to see all the cool bikes and gear the guys around here have.Any accessories would have to be imported, still need a bike first.
I am going to look at the SM610 this weekend, Any thing I take a look at specifically?

Hi there. Whilst they are scarce , there are 610's at better prices. I just recently bought another one for R17k , 15 000 kms , 06 model. A friend got one for R25k , 07 model , 16 000 km's. Whereabouts in SA are you ? We are in Midrand area

Hi s-4-b

My account doesnt want to work so I made a new one.
I am 20mins drive from Midrand in Centurion.
Where did you find 610 for that price?I have been keeping an eye on all ads for weeks now and could not find anything like that.
07 with 16k for 25k would absolutely make my year

Depends on --Supply and demand --I just sold my 06 SM 610 for R40k --only had 8,000km on the clock one of 7 huskies i have. First guy bought it -- but it was as good as new -- I am in Pretoria and have a large network with bikes that are available. There is still a brand new 450SMRR available in a crate here in SA ---one of 100 that was built on Huskies 100th anniversary it was a R165K bike here only two in SA. The person will let it go for R80k --but this is NOT a comuter but a full on race machine :D

I think I saw that sm610 you sold. Black one? Looked really good. Please let me know if you see something coz I really can't seem to find nice deals.

Blazes happens to be your man you need to chat with:thumbsup:

He put me onto mine after I broke my other one , and the other friend found his through the biking shop opposite the Hyundai dealer in Boksburg. The owner of that shop is a motard fanatic and seems to know the whereabouts of some of the Husky's as well.

Thanx
Blazes any info on finding a Husky would be much appreciated. I have been looking for so long now and just can't seem to find a nice deal. The only one I really saw is the one mentioned in the first post and on that I still need to spend about
R4000-5000 to get it back in shape.
