    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

SM450R 17" Wheelset on my TE610

I am going back to searching for a 17" wheelset as I am going down to one bike for possibly a year or more. :eek: I found a nice set off an 08 450SM and I am ready to pull the trigger. Comes with spacers and sprocket. I am just going to transfer my rotors back and forth or buy TE rotors as I don't need the big front rotor for commuting and light hooligan duties.

Anyway, I ASSume Husky hubs are all the same as far as axle diameter and width as I had a spare rear wheel from a 2000 that fit my 08. Can anyone help confirm this before I drop coin? I am searching, but there is not much out there.

I think the only issue you will have is the sm hub uses 8mm bolts for the front rotor so your front rotor wont just swap over. The other issue may be the front forks, if your 610 has the 50mm forks your set but if you have the 45mm forks I think a 120 front tire will rub on the forks (really depends on the triples).
 
Yeah, should be fine except for the 8mm front rotor bolts, you will need to drill out the mounting holes on your rotor or get an SMR one. Before you pull the trigger on those, I have a set without sprocket/rotors/tires, WITH the spacers. PM me and we can work something out.

Already bought em with spacers, new tires, mint wheels for $750 shipped.

I will look into the rotor mounting, Do not want/need a monster rotor/adapter. $$
 
One chip is all I saw. They are going to look far worse after a few gravel roads and tire changes. It's just wheels on a dirt bike I was not looking for perfect, but feel I got a fair price on some barely used wheels and near new Conti tires.

Now to call Hall's and price out some rotors (maybe I will spring for the larger front if the price is not too much)
 
Well, great news.....the front wheel fit on perfect! This set had the same spacer width as the TE. I am very pleased. Centered n all. Brake rotor bolts are 8mm thread tho vs 6mm on the dirt hubs. Rotor is just zip tied on. Anyone see an issue with buying another TE front rotor and drilling it out to 8mm?? The rear I did not mount and I am not worried there, also the rotor bolts are the same size so I will just get a stock rear TE rotor and call that good back there. Unsure what sprocket I will run. Stock TE or stock SM??

I first drilled mine out but eventualy went ahead and got a 320mm disc and adapter kit for my front. Drilling that rotor is not easy, that is some seriously hard steel. It will look much better with an SM fender, I bought a generic one from motoplastics for pretty cheap.

Thanks, I assumed it will be a PITA to drill. A friend has a drill press that I hope helps some.

Yeah a new fender will happen soon enough also.

Yeah my KTM Duke II had a low fender. Looks nice. The KTM Adventure bikes also have a low fender.

Little update. Probably 3 tanks through it in SM setup, so 375ish miles. I am running the SM rear sprocket and 1 down up front. Had to remove a link to make that work.

Zero issues other than excessive asshatery, great handling, 2nd gear wheelies out of corners and grins from ear to ear. I need to hook up my GPS to see how accurate the speedo is, but it seems close, but not dead on like stock. I changed the speedo to run on the SM configuration, but the magnet on the rotor (stock TE on a 17" wheel) might be throwing it off a touch???
