  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sm450 bad vibration and blowby, piston/ cylinder good...?

That looks like fun too, I'd try to stay away from the deep stuff with my SM though. That's down by lake Travis somewhere right?

Yeah, the Lake is down 50 feet and there's lots of riding

That looks like a pretty fun place to ride. Do yall ever get hassled by game wardens or the army corps? I'd like to bring my ATK down there.

Well no it isn't, I've been planning on making it street legal but I just haven't gotten it all ready yet. Hopefully I can get TE wheels and forks for the husky because that would make things easier.

I got everything back together today, cams in time, turned it over by hand first to be sure then hit the button and after a few seconds of cranking it fired right up, turned it off and on a few times kicking off right away. It sounded great so I took it down the road and back to check it out, everything looked good so my buddy on his DRZ and I rode down to the gas station to fill it up then to the lake a few miles away and back to the house. Everything looked great and sounded great so we decided to head down river road towards New Braunfels. The whole way it felt great with tons of power, got to the end of river road then turned left onto hueco springs loop, got about 3/4 of the way down it then I heard a strange sound and lost power for a second then once more several seconds later. I made to to the gas station when it died and fired it back up while rolling up to the pump, it was only ideling around 1200-1300 and died again. I topped it off with gas then tried starting it again, cranked... cranked... fired... idled then made a metallic sound and died, tried it again and it just stopped, rolled it in gear backwards... stopped... rolled forward... stopped...

My buddy headed home to get the truck and I waited there with the bike. While he was gone I had some tools so I pulled the plug, fan, cam cover, decompression arm, cams... Still the same thing, it turns over almost to TDC then stops just before going both ways. Gary got back with the truck so we loaded it up and took it home.

If I have some time this week I'll pull the head to see what F'ed up. I'm assuming a valve either bent or broke...

Oh and the trip meter had 30.7 miles recorded for today. Buy a Husky they said.... It will be fun they said...
