• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SM/TE 630 CENTER STAND, DO THEY REALLY EXIST OR R THEY JUST A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION!!??

Has YOUR kickstand broke on you, if so, was it BEFORE or AFTER warranty expired?

I bought one of these many years ago when they first came out. IIRC it was only ~$24 or so total. Just went to the website to buy another for permanently stowing on my out of state bike and is $40 with shipping. Wow inflation, price near doubled! I really like the stand though; light, compact and strong so will still buy another.

Thanx for the info as I have looked into the Trail Star TS2 & am really leaning towards that since I'd be able to help out a fellow rider if they ever needed a stand as well!!

Just bought on of those EnduroStar trail stands, looks like a good idea whether you have a centre stand or not since you can likely use it to hold up the front as well for repairs there.
The Cigar Mikes (and, I assume the factory) center stand is at the balance point. If you hang your jacket on the rear rack, you can do the front end, on the handlebars if you want to work on the rear end.

So what ever happened to the last center stand in existence? I would really like if I could buy or at least borrow it or if some one could send me some dimensions. Sure beats the whole trial and error thing...

If you need dimensions or photos I can do that. I grabbed these when in production as I figured they would eventually become unobtainium!

I can't tell from the picture, is there a cross brace? 3/4" tubing?

I found a profile image for the bracket just trying to detail out the tubing size, length and spread

Thanks

Thanks Kirby for the center stand photos. I will hopefully find some time this weekend to work on it****************************************

Just heard from Cigar Mike on the ADV forum and he's going to share his plans for the 610/630 center stand. I'll share them here when he does.

That would be truly amazing if you did that I know it would definitely put my mind at ease wherever I park my bike from now on if I had a Center stand.

I have a Cigar Mike's (CM) center stand. It is nice but it does take some work to get it up on the stand. My F650 was super easy to get on the stand, The CM stand, not so much lol. I will say do NOT take the front wheel off while on the CM center stand unless you have the rear weighted. I found that out the hard way when my bike slid forward on to the forks while the CM folded back and ended up sitting on the fork legs and skid plate. That was interesting getting it back to height to put the wheel back on :) .

I checked in with Cigar Mike and he said he's been busy out having fun, but will try to post the drawing/dimensions some time next week.

Hi. I am new to the scene and just got a 2011 SM 630. would be great to have a center stand. I have read through most of the threads (I think). Has anybody had any luck with Cigar-Mike's plans? I may have to just settle with the trail-version from Enduro Star. Thanks

Hmmm...yeah, two months ago?

I don't really care about having one but for some I can see that it would make sense for them. I like having one on the bigger bikes - like my Tiger 800.

Steve's enduro-star stand is my go-to. :applause:

I tried...........

He did tell me that it was one of the easiest he came up with. He figured out the dimensions from the illustrations in the parts catalog.

Now that SWM is making the RS650R off the TE630 mould if you will, maybe a center stand will become available from them? Looks like they're using the same side stand, and the frame still has the lugs for the center stand. Worth a shot to check, but no dealer network in America yet.

I'm not handy enough to pull off making one myself, that's for sure...so dunno why I'm really posting this.

Seems to me the real feat (for someone who already has the fabrication skills) is getting all of the angles right- the right bends, angles and clearances (around the swingarm, etc.) To that end perhaps fabbing a model from coat hanger wire or even something fairly easy to bend/tweak- such as copper tubing- may help in fleshing it out. Once that's done the rest should be pretty easy (well, again for someone with the welding skills.)

Jumping on the thread although it is a bit old now. I put 10'000km on the 630 during a 5-week ride in Russia last summer and really wished I had a decent side stand and center stand. With a full 25l Safari tank and luggage. I was lucky enough not to break the OEM side stand, but I am not sure I will hold the next ride.
My husky dealer confirmed to me that the center stand was never made for the 630 (although there is a part #).
If anyone has a plan for a second hand Kenneth side stand and/or a center stand (Cigar Mike, SWM) other, I would be grateful to hear about it.
