    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

SM 610 Rear Tire Suggestions?

image.jpg Similar to the stock Dunlop it replaced, the Conti Force SM is about done down the center @ 2K miles. I guess a track inspired tire is just too soft down the middle for road use? They wear out down the middle way too quickly. So, with that in mind, perhaps I need a road or multi compound tire? Really hate to give up performance for mileage, but I might have to. I like Michelins "road" tire, but it doesn't come in 150/60/17. So, by default, I'm considering the Conti Attack, recommended & regarded by some as an upgrade from the Conti Force SM. Nonetheless, any suggestions in terms of performance/mileage?
 
I'm on a 160 Pilot Power 2CT on the 630. I was rolling rubber off the edge of a 150, and the 160 hasn't given me any trouble. Some will say it makes for a slower turn-in, but the difference is negligible. It does open up your tire options a good bit.
 
I'm running the Bridgestone BT-016 on mine, have about 1000 miles on it now, showing a little bit of wear, I suspect I'll get about 4k+ miles out of it. I run it pretty hard up in the foothills ( no chicken strips at all ) and have never had it slip or give me any funny feedback yet. They have a new tire out called the s-20 that is supposed to be better, my new front is supposed to be here this afternoon.

I normally order from these guys, http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/index.php ordered on Sunday night, here on Tuesday aint bad. I can't seem to beat their price anywhere either usually.
 
S-20s are awesome, have them on my 610 and my Busa. Did a trackday on the 610 Easter weekend. They had plenty of stick, even in some of the damp/wet spots on the track.
 
Well my 016 isn't going to make it to 4k, hit a rock today just right and punched a hole in it. I'll try patching it up from the inside ( I've done the tubeless crap to my wheels ) as the roadside plug is leaking.

First good ride on the S20 front and I'm impressed, I may just pop for the rear and trash the 016.

Pilot Powers ( the regular one , and also run them on my Busa , track days with both bikes)
Went to a Conti Motion for the money , was a good all around tire. not the best for track day . Has a flatter profile , nice for highway trips.( i think i just saw them on sale again for $159 a SET!)
Got the conti SM's . I like the way they feel the best , But still thinks PP are best for the money and all around performance , feel , price , and wear.

And I'd saw about 50% of the pix I see of 610, they're running PP's

ps, I also run a 160 rear on my 610,
 
I've been running Pilot Road 3's on mine all winter. All the hype about these tires is true. They deliver and don't disappoint. At all.
 
Please tell me who sells Conti Motions for $159 a SET.

Just threw a set of Pilot Power 3's on my 630 with a 160 rear, been running PP 2CT's. Haven't had a chance to push them hard enough to tell much difference yet, but I'm liking the slick edge profile so far.

What's a good sized tire profile wise to run on the 610 without rubbing on the chain? I want wider than 150 thanks

160/60, that's what I run on my 630 and it gets you into standard sizes for more tire options.

Would it be the same width in swing arm and chain clearance for the 610sm?

Should be. The original Pilot Powers are a bit rougher in side, so be careful you don't wear through a tube.

I prefer the PP 2CT's or the PP3's.
 
They're all tubeless, but if you're running factory spoked wheels, you have to run a tube, unless you take the time to silicone every single spoke and hope it doesn't leak.

The 2CT and the PP3 just have a softer compound on the edges for more max grip. The PP3's are supposed to last longer than the PP 2CT's.
 
Hmmm I have an 09 610sm on factory spoked wheels. Bought it with 241 miles now I just hit 1,000 and I'm looking to get a set or tires for the near future.

How "spirited" is your riding? If you're not scraping pegs or using your tire all the way to the edge, you'd probably be satisfied with something like the Pilot Road 2 or 3. They come in a dual compound variety as well, and they'll outlast the Pilot Powers. Personally, I love the new Pilot Power 3, and it's a lot better in the wet than the previous PP's I've used.

I'm currently running a 160/60 Michelin Pilot Road 4. I needed a "dual compound" tire for highway commuting, so why the 160 size. No rubbing or fit issues. Hope this helps.
