  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc SM 125 HTS power valve problem!! (2006)

So, I have a problem with my HTS exhaust power valve system, it's a 06 Husky sm125 with HGS pipe, pipercross filter, 130 main jet. So, first I noticed that the bike is not going more than 70 or 80 km/h, and it's not revving properly, at high RPM it sounds like a limiter or something.
Then I noticed this type of sound;

(it's in finnish, but my bike makes the same sound when turning the power ON) First, I thought it was normal sound, but then my mate said it should make just simple "bzzz, bzzz" sound.

Well I checked out the HTS cables, and I noticed that it was broken from the exhaust side like in the picture http://oi59.tinypic.com/fl8sk0.jpg
So any idea how to fix this? Or should I temporarily disable the whole HTS system(I mean just locking the power valve @ON position)

that's exactly how mine sounded for months, as soon as ignition is turned on, it stuck just like that yet was fine when riding. I had it cleaned and one little part by the actuator arm [by exhaust port] replaced, ever since then it went a simple, zing, zing as it should. It's not supposed to do it like yours is. Try spraying a lubricating spray on the cables and on the inside of the housing that your picture shows then try it again

that sounds stuck to me still, do it again with the engine warm, then video that piece again whilst revving the bike, you should see that motor twist the cables almost all the way when you get to the maximum revs. If you haven't yet, I'd drop the radiator hoses and coolant off, tank off, spark plug out, cylinder head and o rings off, then discconect the powervalve section from the cylinder and clean it all over inside, the cable needs to be free to move the valves that slide inside the cylinder otherwise you'll get a power drop at 7 thousand revs rather than a masive kick up the arse

thank you for answer! It's not my - i was thinking to buy it. I will give your answer to owner!
This is another one for exam, is this working correctly?

the pv seems to be working 90 percent normally, it should move a tiny bit faster than that, but it seems ok. The engine sounds like it's got a clogged pilot jet and a rich main jet, hear that bogging at the top of the rev range? unless the motor was dead cold- don't rev it like that if it's cold!
