  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Slipper clutch compatibility

So I've looking around for info on slipper clutches. I've been trying to figure out if the 450 and 510 clutches are the same as the 250 clutches.
I've got a 2007 TC250, And Ill be patiently waiting for a good deal on a slipper if the the models will cross over.. Can anyone help me out? :excuseme:

250 clutch is different than 45O/510. And the 450/510 clutches changed from '08 to '09-10. But for you my friend, call GP Cycles in San Diego, I was talking to them a week ago or so and they have a used slipper for a 250, it might but just what you're looking for and I've never heard of another source for a slipper for the 250.

Hmmm. Just got off the phone with them. I think they may have one for me :D

Thank you very much Jaro! Were you buying supermoto parts from them?

Yep

I bought a set of wheels from a 450RR off of them. Why on earth Husky puts a 4.25" rim on the rear of the SMR's is beyond me... Anyway, I have a nice set of race rims now, 16.5 front and a 5.5" wide rear with dunlop slicks. Can't wait to try it this weekend!!!

They used to have a TON of SM parts when they were running the US Husky race team. They still have lots of neat bits but nothing like they did a couple of years ago. Hope the clutch works out for you!

So Jaro the 5.5 rim has no problems getting into the swing are (with tyre on of course)?

No prob, it's actually and OEM wheel set from a Husky 450RR. You have to take the chain guard off and it's a tight git past the caliper but one on there it's all good. I haven't ridden it yet but with a 170 Dunlop slick there is plenty of clearance so I don't expect any issues. The issue I did run into was mounting the big front caliper with the 16.5" front wheel. Just barely got it back on there. I'm sure I'll get a bit of chain slap but no worries. I'll post up next week, I have a track day on Sat so will give it a good thrashing and report back!

Sweet! Turns out the slippers gonna run me $900 bucks!

Thankfully, they'll hold it in exchange for a deposit. I'm kind a curious to know how my bike would do with a 16.5" front and a 5" rear. Right now it feels great with a 17" front and a 17x4.5" rear. Im getting a 16.5 rim w/spokes and nipples really cheap and the rear wont get changed out for a while unless I get a screamin deal on a rim to lace up...

How much did they charge you for the wheels?
