• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Six Day Hi Point Riding Glasses

Does anyone have any new, old six day riding glasses around?

Liked them in the old days for Harescrambles.

Had a pair but can't find them and must of got pitched.

Called an old way back Husky dealer and he has a couple pairs but won't let go of them.

Just need to find 2-3 good pairs out there!

Let me know if anyone has any that they'd let go of?

They look identical to the safety glasses I get at work. Have you tried looking at industrial safety supply depots/stores?

that was my response the yellow industrial safety glasses are darn close replicas of those old school Burlson glasses.

I use em for fishin' did not like that lure in the eye photo I saw a while back

some use em for shootin'
and old school but good logic while riding in certain circumstances.

Found out the silly way that sunglasses really suck when mountain biking in deep woods, tried the amber lens safety glasses from a co riding coworker & couldn't believe the increased clarity. When getting back into open terrain in bright sunlight it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be.
Wore them on my one & only mountain bike race. They were awesome

Okay, so I took your advice, started poking around and what do you think of these?

Will order couple pairs and try them.

If not I will try the ones from Kevin's.

My last race two weeks ago, had terrible time with my googles fogging up even though they were treated with anti fog. The moisture then messes with my contact lenses ----- can't see!

Yep, Burleson used them all the time!

Just wondering if anyone has used ski goggles in warm weather high fogging conditions?? I used to use them for wintertime snow riding, but never thought about warm weather use. They have a dual lens which helps prevent fogging

I've always had trouble seeing with goggles and contact lenses so I started wearing a cheap version of the "Bobster" glasses I found in a motorcycle shop. Basically a pair of sunglasses with clear polycarbonate lenses and some foam around the inside edge of the frame. A couple of things I don't like is that they tend to move around with the helmet so I'm always adjusting the fit and they don't protect your face as much as googles so I need to be careful busting through trees and brush while riding. But at least I can see now.

I sweat a lot, so I run Scott Turboflows (twin pane and vented) all year round. Riding glasses don't work for me, because they sit closer to my face and fog worse than goggles.:oldman:

Norm, that surprises me. Getting old must make your eyes sweat:D
I wear clear and amber safety glasses. When they fog I pull them away from my face a little or have a string on them so I can let them dangle when they are fogged. A lot cheaper than the turbos.

I've always worn safety glasses from work to ride in.
This might sound crazy, but goggles kinda "smother" me. It's like the reverse effect of a breath-rite strip,...they close my nasal passages, right where a breath-rite strip would lift them open, and I feel like I'm suffocating. Makes me into a dang mouth breather!
You can still get incidental irritant dust in your eyes with the glasses though,...that's their short fall compared to goggles.

My wife got a cool pair of sunglasses last year, they were available in amber lens too. the lens frame part was completely foam encased for comfort & good sealing against dust & such, but had typical arms of sunglasses. I asked her why she didn't get me a pair

Yes. Rode with a fellow from Oregon when he came to CA and did that, cheaper and said they worked well.

On a separate subject - For people with glasses the options are more limited.

Hey, I dont know what you use for anti-fog, But have you tried using " pledge" Furniture Polish? yeah ,I know it sounds stupid, but it worrks better than most commercial Anti-fogs...:excuseme:

I have also heard guys say to use pledge furniture polish. I was told that it really helps the rain to bead up and roll off your face shield.
