• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

So I am prepping my TE630 for CDR (continental divide route) I could not find anything I liked that wasn't $500 bucks. So luckily I build things for a living!!
Going to mount a set of Mosko Moto bags on these:

So I still have to install the other side:

And the rear cross bar to help keep them spread but I like where it is going.
I was hoping to put a rotopax in where the right muffler was but i think it will get abused that close to the rear tire. I thought about a metal shield to protect it but I will have to see. Small bags here and there would be great for small parts and pieces. We'll see about that too! I will post more as I progress

nice... wishing I could have your plan for that bike when I owned it along with the skills to build side racks. I had a pair of side racks from Wolfman that were never mounted and ended up selling them before the sale of the bike. Contemplated also mounting a fuel cell on the inside of the right rack.

Those Mosko panniers are killer..

Did have a makeshift Acerbis mounted for a few days out in CO/UT off the rear pax peg.



 
Nice, been tossing up between the Mosko Moto and Alt Rider Hemisphere bags....the lack of decent racks has pushed me towards the Alt Rider, despite the packing logistics.

If you feel like doing a productions run....
 
Those Mosko Moto bags look surprisingly similar to the Kriega bags that I use on my longer rides, no rack system required.
 
Nice rack design and fabrication, you're going to have a nice set up bike. Are you going to do a rear cross brace?

I like the look of the Mosko bags a lot, only downside I saw was they're like 10+ lbs/pr empty. Wolfman Expedition are 4 I think.

Let me see how the proto type works out! I wouldn't mind figuring out a jig and popping a few out. I actually enjoy that kind of stuff!!!

Humm, I did not realize they were that heavy!! I really like the build and thought put in to the bag! I also like the 35 liter bag but think it is just too big (too big = over pack) for what i want to do.

yes, trying to figure out how i want the cross brace to mount and where to place it for best performance with out looking like a KLR. Not that i have anything against KLRs!!!:rolleyes: I owned one a long time ago for a while!!
 
Very nice racks
Been running a similar homemade rack without a crossbrace for a while with no issues.My bags rest on the pillon pegs for a bit more support.I did weld tabs on just in case a brace was needed.
 
The right side bracket got placed temporarily on hold while I wait for the "U" bracket. I ended up ordering the same bracket used for the passenger pegs. Was going to make one but wanted a more factory look. It should be here shortly, then forward progress!!!

MoskoMoto bags are super nice. They are pricey. Pete is a good guy though and they've thought of everything on them, very nice design.

I ended up getting some wolfman exeditions but no way to hang them on. Using them on the Tiger with HT racks. I have Dirtbagz for the husky and they have worked very well but certainly not what I would call heavy duty nor large capacity.
