  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Shop manual for Athena 300 kit install?

AA Class
I just got the Athena 300 kit for my '07 TE250 (sweet deal--got it for 50% off via a coupon in my Scrub Pine Enduro registration pack--thanks, Athena!!), and I'll be putting it on in the next couple of weeks. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but I don't have a shop manual. Do I need one?

The instructions with the kit are on the order of, "1. You-a take-a off the cylinder head. 2. You-a take-a off the cylinder and pistone. 3. You putt-a on-a the new things."

I've done piston, rings, valve seals on four-strokes before, but I always had the cookbook to follow. Any pitfalls to avoid with the Husky? Should I get a manual first?

Call George @ Uptite 1 714 540-2920. He should be able to boil it down for you....probably just torque, clearance and lubrication hints.

Dang! I'd sign up for that enduro just to get the coupon! Did everyone get one of those coupons? Anyone not going to use theirs?

It's probably best if you just sent me the Athena kit and I reimbursed you for your costs.. ;)

I installed one. real EZ. If you know how to reset the cam timing and a few torque specs your good to go.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll check the owner's manual--it just might have the torque specs I need.
