• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Have a guy angry with me over shipping delays. He said he was going to give me negative feedback on this forum about it. So, before he trashes me here is my side. I explained #4 to him by phone a couple of times before we agreed on the deal.
#1. Only reason I'm selling alot of Husky stuff is I cant ride anymore. I'm not a business. I'm trying to help others with their hobby.
#2. I don't charge as much as most do for parts
#3 I don't request payment until I have a tracking number for the buyer. That means the package is on its way before I'm paid, so far nobody has stiffed me.
#4. I always state that I can only ship two days a week with my work schedule. With that I use one day to get someone a quote at the Post Office. If they are agreeable with shipping costs I then use the other day to actually ship the package. This also means two trips to the Post Office, fuel, time.......
Then another e-mail to confirm buyer is agreeable to shipping costs, more communication to avoid mis-communication. I would also like to thank the guys who I have had dealing with. Met some great people swapping parts.

#5. I live in a rural area which the only shipping options are USPS or UPS. UPS hub is only open for 2 hours in afternoon- when I'm at work.
#6. Yes there is a shipping service, they double costs.
#7. I teach college. Taking time off is nearly impossible, I also substitute teach. That means filling in for sick instructors.
#8. Here is the big one- If I substitute teach instead of making two trips to the Post Office, Wait in line, fill out customs forms for overseas shipping, find out they have raised the rates, eat some shipping I can stay at work and make alot more money****************************************!
#9. With the above It may take two weeks before its on its way. I always stay in communication with the buyer. Example, I have some stuff to go to Australia, shipping quote was $90, got to the P.O and its now $126 because of some priority changes in the last few days. I didnt ship while awaiting and e-mail reply from the buyer agreeing on the shipping costs. Heh, another trip to the P.O.
#10. The extra money is handy for my other hobby but if selling some old motorcycle parts becomes to much BS they can sit in my shed forever!

Thanks again to the people Ive had good dealings with, makes it fun! Scott

Not forever. After you get tired of the BS the rest goes in my shed....uh when I actually get a shed that is. What a good reason to build one :)

Hi All,

Many may or may not know, but I have a bike and parts on the way from Scott, his time and understanding whilst I was making up my mind on what to buy, was that of a saint, his communication through email and PM here was outstanding, his flexability while I chopped and changed from one bike to another was to be praised.

I ended up buying a 1983 XC500, something I have dreamt of for years, along with other bits and bobs for this and my other bikes.

I cannot praise Scott up enough, great guy who has the nasty task of selling a loved collection of his hobby, I doubt I could do it.
I know when you want your parts, a few days here and there can burn you up, but in the whole scheme of things, who cares, as long as your bits turn up safe and sound.

Scott is a stand up guy, I cant wait for my stuff to arrive.

Chris.

I am with you Scott there is a lot of time involved in shipping out those parts and packing them to make sure they get there safe and sound . I also have two other job"s and I do this also for the love of the bike"s . And keep my hobby alive also . And this has been a great way to meet a lot of nice people around the world . Ron Nehls , Yakima Wa.

Well I told the complainer he no longer had enough money to buy anything from me. He said he has a problem of overreacting, I guess! He threatened to trash me here, Yahoo group and Marks Vintage Swapmeet. I told him I would be more than happy to show the e-mails and the proof he had never paid for anything. He said being he contacted me first on the part I was then holding out for a better offer, I listed a price and its not a auction! I told him he needed to unwind his spring a turn or two!
Ron, it has been alot of fun meeting people all over the world with the same hobby. Everytime I have tried to use an online shipping calculator its wrong when I get there. I then package it, take it to the shipper for an exact quote, then back again to ship but its the best way to avaid any confusion. Being its the holidays soon I wont be getting near the post office or UPS if at all possible!

On Chris's bike project that will be going to Oz. Chris wants to build a 83 500XC. I have both an 83 500XC and 84 WR500 disassembled. Through communication we came up with a plan consisting of picking the best out of the two bikes plus some spares for him. He's gathering some other parts in the States and having them shipped to me to put in the "box". Its fun for both parties. Ron, expect a PM from Chris on some parts you have also. I told him were only a 100 miles apart.

You need to sign up for shipping accounts and get a scale. Can do it all right there, and print lables. No need to go the the PO. Cheap and works great. Would help you a lot. Weight the package, plug in the numbers, get your quote and print the label on your printer.

You seem like real good people, you will not be trashed here.

thumbs up from me to scott - we have worked on the parts i needed, scott packaged and sent then asked for payment - cant be more trusting than that!
THANKS! a pleasure to deal with!

Thanks Scott , also I have a friend on this site Ian Hair great guy from OZ loves 82.5 CR500 bikes and have sold him 2 of them and he ships them and parts to Battleground Wa .If anybody has any 1982.5 CR500 bikes or parts let him know. If anybody needs that type of help with shipping on bikes in the Northwest Contact him . Scott one of these days when I am down your way I would like to stop in to meet you in person as I have heard so many good things and being a stand up guy , Thanks Ron Nehls

Ron, I looked for a 82.5 for quite awile myself. The Husky dealer here in Pendleton never ordered any in and only one 83 500XC which I had. He wasn't too interested in the big bores as he said people wanted them, then wanted to trade them in for a 250! I was going tobuild one with a 82 CR frame I have but bad back says no more riding. I'll PM my number to you Ron, stop by anytime I would love to visit!

Scott,
I ran an automotive repair business for about 20 years and I can tell you that 98% of the public are good and pleasant to work for but the remaining 2% will make you want to quit or go postal. The best solution is exactly what you did... after bending over backwards trying to be fair if they can't be satisfied send them on their merry way and refuse to provide them with your services. When any reasonable person starts hearing a rant coming from a disgruntled customer hopefully they will consider the source.

Have buddy who has two or three 500's not sure of years 82 or 83 ,extra motor too, he is looking to sell last time I talked to him. Can give contact info.

Another benefit for this is if UPS picks up from your workplace daily (like mine) you can just take the labeled box to work to be picked up. Saves a bunch of time.

wow....all that ^%#@! AND THE jerk doesnt appoligize?.. heck with him...its true that for each and every one of us..our time is valuable... view this as a learning experience... "those with experience learned what these parts and shipping cost" (too bad a NOOB enters the scene every once in awhile)....LOL
It is so typical of the instant gratification or microwave 'generation'..It Irks me. I am restoring a '72 450 and my 'parts hunting quest' has been an ordeal.. New rims from the UK, brakes- cables, getting parts nickel plated, painting, sprocket (went with a Krause- Sidewinder- chain & $procket) lots of time involved
