• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sherco Factory models released.

What makes these bikes better than buying a KTM/Husky?

Think it has more to do with the fact that it's not a KTM. Flawless estart helps and my favorite part is power setting button. It controls the ignition and electronic powervalve. Japenese don't build anything to compete with ktms offroad models (other then the yz250fx) and beta and sherco have picked up the slack.

LOM nailed it. Confidence in the e-start, Map switch gives two bikes in one and it's not a KTM.

A few other reasons why I choose French, all subjective of course:
The Sherco feels narrow between the boots and the fc350 husky (only one i've ridden) felt wide. I don't like wide.
WP open chamber forks work well with stock valving when sprung correctly. Have you seen the 4CS threads???
Ergo's, dimensions, feel similar to an Italian Husky xlite 310.
Not as expensive as a white Husky (in Australia)

Does anyone know what their plans are for their FI 2 stroke? Are they gonna offer it as a separate model? Will they offer a FI and a carb model? Or is the FI not ready for showtime yet?

awesome bikes I rode the previous model 300 4st very similar to my te310 perhaps a little more trials oriented - not too sure about the availability down under parts etc?

My statement was that the Sherco 300 four stroke I rode was a further refinement of my 2 previous Italian Husky 310s TE and TXC-R, it just did everything better/smoother/more refined. these bikes are engineered very well as core enduro machines.

Word is possibly a 2017 model. The US importer said he would request carbs for whatever the first year is to see how it works out and also based on requests he's already gotten from people here. I'm sure he would still order a few with FI or special order. From what I've ready ktm will have them out by then also because european emission standards change that year.

Also, the current 2 strokes are supposedly designed around fi and the system can be retrofitted when it comes out. You can look up synerject and see it or atleast a variation of it. Its the same company beta and sherco use on their fuel injected 4 strokes

I was told that the 2016 Sherco 2 strokes will be fuel injected.

Its not necessarily better but can be depending on your likes. I think KTMs are awesome bikes, no doubt about that. But I prefer the handling and suspension on some other bikes which is why I dont go with KTM. I also dont like to be one of the herd and like different stuff. The Sherco would be one of my top choices if I was in the market because I hear it handles like an x-light husky which is one of my favorites, has a sweet motor like a good running GG, has very good stock suspension, has a real integrated e-start (not an add on item that is finicky), is slim and looks stunning. I've never liked PDS much although I have ridden a few that worked good. I've never liked the hinged in the middle lose / twitchy feeling on KTMs handling. Suspension and handling are my two big ones and KTM, for me personally, does not hit my target. This is why I look at other brands.

It's not necessarily better but it's sure nice to have choices. Ktm has set the bar really high and for any of these small companies to just make something that is on the same level is an impressive feat.

While they may not perform better, different ergos and characteristics will suit some folks better.

The Japanese have turned their back on what the consumers want and it's a real breath of fresh air to see companies like Beta, Sherco and TM building what the people want rather than force feeding us with crap.

I liken it to the 90s when everyone could choose between a CR250, KX250, RM250 or YZ250. One of them may have been the best overall but people would buy them all for many different reasons. That is why we need more choices than KTM or Husky.

KTM or Husky is not a choice unless you are talking about color.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts except add that I prefer a taller bike since I'm 6'6". The Beta and the older GasGas are more for a shorter guy. This puts Sherco at the top of my list. Id like to see them come out with a 150-175cc bike that is lighter but I realize they would not sell many of those compared to 300s.

Yet another cool bike we don't have in Kali! Golly, Imma thinkin that some of them companies just don't wanna do bidness in this state.

Gosh, I got no idear whay?

Krm or husky not a choice?!? Anything post 2014 maybe but there are heaps of used sweedish huskys to buy and plenty of mashed ktm's. Me personally knowing a few mates that have katie ems means i wont be buying one soon unless the price is very right.
Husky below a k thats £1000 or $1520 at time of exchange its in my sights.
The choice is there just what are you after? Ossa sherco beta ktm oset yamaha kawakaski buel bultaco honda sherco gas gas husky aprillia and more.. Not no choice imo too much. We are spoilt and i love it!
Oh ajp n suzuki i missed and plenty more

Most KTM haters talk about how WP suspension is junk, and the Sherco has WP suspension... My 2003 CR250 had an electric powervalve...

I would enjoy a Sherco, I'm just sayen.

I like those Shercos, not the colours but the bike. Specially the 2t's. Maybe my next bike is one of those 300 2t.

What fears me is the e-start-only ... I would like to have a kickstarter as backup.

FI ? I don't care, the Lectron works great :D

Its a real integrated E-start like a 4 stroke, not a crappy add on like a lot of 2 strokes and works great, just like the Beta. 2 strokes are super easy to push start if there is an issue. It would not scare me at all but I get it that some people dont like it.
