As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!

Ive never ridden a Sherco, but ive admired them from afar. I know one guy who loves his 450.
I know there are some Sherco guys on here, lets hear it.
How do they compare?![]()

I have heard similar stuff. The fuel injection has been spot on for the last couple years. The bikes are reputed to be very fast, with top notch components.
The company seems to have a strong support from the local governments in France and Spain, and theyve been around for awhile now. Longer than i thought. I know they are rare here in the US, but not so rare, even semi- common, in europe, at least at some races ive followed.
The parts thing would be something to consider, but then again i raced a Husky 5 years ago when NOBODY raced or rode Husky. Well nobody except Norman and Dale and Kelley.OK, George too....
I ordered parts from overseas via the internet, and it was easy. So i suspect i could get to know a big French Sherco supplier easy enough for parts.
Im the only one who works on my bikes, and i make lots of my own parts. In fact more than a few aftermarket guys have used my bikes and ideas for the Husky.
What i am really drawn to is the passion Sherco has for their riders, and especially their little grass roots Dakar support efforts. Its just too cool for school. It reminds me of Husky a few years ago. I bought my first Husky 'cause i was anti-Honda. But i quickly came to see what being part of a small mom and pop dirt bike company was all about.
I miss that Husky vibe.
Dont get me wrong, i love my 610, and nobody, but nobldy has raced a 510 as many miles as yours truly, but yeah maybe its time to try something else, try to find just a little bit more. Thats the fun part of racing, always trying to get just a bit more.
So Roger/Creeper,
Who should i get in touch with? Who is 'the guy' for off road Sherco stuff in the US? Or am i gonna end up that guy?![]()
BlipBlip! said:I might be wrong, but i herd rumor that some of the engine parts might be interchangeable with the older style KTM 4 stroke line.
I know when the first Sherco 4.5 and 5.1 came out the motor looked like a direct knock-off of the KTM engine at the time.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor?
Are any motor parts interchangeable?

Creeper;32237 said:Yep... I've always done all my own work, so needing access to a mech or a service department has never been a concern with anything I've owned. Shercos are amazingly easy to work on... you could have one stripped to nothing but parts in a few hours.
Regarding parts... OEM parts are quick and easy to get. Frank has most service stuff, and will jump thru hoops to get what ever else you need. If that doesn't work, Ryan Young does his level best to keep at least one of every single sherco enduro part made.
It's the almost complete lack of aftermarket that gets annoying sometimes.
The two guys I mentioned are "the guys"... Frank Kergil here in Washington and the importer, Ryan Young (RYP). There may be other "guys" elsewhere, but these are my guys. I can give you numbers/addresses etc if you need them.
EDIT.. LOL. Creeper.. looking at those pics from your thread reminded me... The Sherco light is probally the only one I've ever seen worse than our 610 "candles" .. That bike is one beautiful piece of work though..
Nope. Yes, they have some visual similarities, but they are a whole different design. For example, they have a crank driven counter-balancer in the front of the engine... the bikes are incredibly smooth.
They use, and have used since inception, a "shim on stem" valve lash adjustment method... while at that same timre, KTM was still using screw adjusters.
My take on the bike when I first got it is here.
