• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SHERCO 2014 new 450

From what I gather from Clay, they are working on a 125 and will develop a larger intermediate capacity from that motor- 165-175. But it is still a couple of years away so anything could happen. They hardly have the 250-300 2T's in the country yet. I think I will be able to line up a test ride of the sherco 2T's at Pipestone this spring.

Being once very interested in the 300i I thought passing on my knowledge would be applicable… Sherco based anyway, not a total hijack. The fit and finish are nice for a small company, but not up to their trials bike's standards. Possibly teething problems from the new to them French factory. As I understand it, both the 300i and X Ride [which is full of substandard parts] are made on the old Scorpa line. The bike is indeed very light with a nice low center of gravity, very easy to balance on. Also a bit too easy to stall, probably easily resolved once a tuner gets hold of that efi. Had I bought one it would have been JD's "beta" Sherco 300. Talking with the dealer on the lack of kickstart… I made my old fashioned concern known and he told me if the battery was dead it wasn't going to start anyway… Now as a side note I have never used the kicker on my Beta to do anything other than rotate the engine while servicing it, but I thought to myself this is supposed to be comforting? All in all, what finally pushed me away was the preference for 2t vs 4, and the fact that the Sherco 2t was about a year away from when I bought my Beta. Merry Christmas to all that have read this far!

the efi on the shercos is supposedly pretty good I read in that it compensates for a blocked air filter & will lean out as opposed to others(ktm) that cant recognise this so just run rich. interesting that the new sherco 250/300 2T motor is heavier(fair bit too) than the sherco 250/300 4T. heavy duty clutch/tranny. reliability & robustness I guess over lightweight. similar to old husky 2T donks

When I have it all together and I have had a chance to run and evaluate it, I will start a thread and give all the details. Kind of premature at this point. I did ask RB to do the crank but he re-builds but doesn't stroke. I am having the crank stroked, all new parts, trued and balanced with the entire piston kit. Should be bullet proof.

If your bat is dead on a modern EFI bike your not going anywhere anyway so all you have to worry about is the starter itself failing and they usually warn you before they go.

That is not so with my 13 txc 310. It has the capacitor charger just like the fi motocross bikes
