• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SEM MAGNETO?

If that's the "untested" one on Ebay US, it appears to be the same unit as my 88 400WR has. I was going to buy it but the fact that it hasn't been run or tested in any way usually means it will be good for a door stop, and the freight to Australia is a killer as well.
Tony.

It's from the states here. I need a SEM coil for my 430wr. Buying this whole SEM was probably the same cost as a coil. I have just about enough parts to build some bikes now.

KTM SEM I need the coil. They said it's a 87 husky.
the 87-88 husky used the sem system with the large triangular cdi...they liked to go bad and make the bike run backwards..i had a crate of them and sold all things sem that i owned. some sparked, some did not..some ran in reverse.

I was looking at the new ignitions at Penton. I have a small rotor PVL I purchased last year for the 430cr. I have a few used moto plats also.(backup)

Yup I been warned.

Dont put a PVL on an open class bike, especially the 430 with the stock primary gears.

I just recently installed a Powerdynamo on my 430. $313 all up including shipping and flywheel puller shipped from Germany. Easy install and runs well. I got the 70 watt A/C unit. Starts easily at ~ 1.5 mm BTDC. I figured it would be a much better option than any 30 year old used electronics I could find. And I can see to ride at night now.

I tried one on my 430 Auto, just couldn't get it to start despite a reasonable spark with the plug out, you just don't get enough engine revolutions on a kick to get a start. I had my Motosplatt repaired and she starts a treat, but like Justintendo said this PVL problem is documented on this website.
