• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Regarding threads on CH in general - If there are similar threads on CH I would appreciate it tremendously is someone posts links from one to the other. Thought I saw a few that might be similar, not a big deal at all but would hate to loose track of peoples input - that input is important.

I honestly think the electric start on a 2 stroke is a big waste. It added almost $600 to the price of a KTM. The 200 does not have the starter and are a pretty good deal still. I can see it on four strokes but its just more crap to deal with on a smoker.
 
For a little shorty person like myself, the e-start would be a welcome addition to any bike that I might stall in a pile of rocks on a steep, off-camber hillside.

While I do tend to think of them as sort of unneccessary on 2-strokes for the average Joe, you're right about them being a big help to those of us that might be vertically challenged (I'm 5'1") and/or physically thrashed. I know that if it were my right ankle instead of my left that got shattered, I'd probably be looking for an e-start 2-stroke, too.

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings but this is a forum to vent your opinions. I do not think my comments in any way disrespected your opinions so please do not disrespect mine with your snide comment. If you have a rebuttle then post a reason e-start would be useful like the previous posts by other people.

The e-start would be useful for shorter folk who might have a hard time in technical terrain. But for me who is 6'1" and money concious the kicker is good enough.

Perhaps we (including myself) should all just stick to the original subject here, which, if I recall correctly, was an interview with Scot Harden?
