• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Class
Im looking to buy a scissor lift. Ive looked at the Motorsports Products one and Pit Posse and Red Line engineering. All different price, some way cheaper. Any experiences or ideas guys?

They are heavy and expensive.
I bought a second hand hospital bed for a six pack. It has a 200Kg rating and rises from 6 inches to wiast level. I bought a tyre clamp/holder, some marine ply and chequer plate and 4 large eyelets-Bobs your uncle

Ebay special here. $115 shipped, although I should have spent a little more for the one with casters.

Careful with the lift Gots -a -Sol. My one disintegrated with a 310 on board. Only one hurt was me-bike was saved

What happened to ghte? Had mine same as gotsa's(Ballards brand-china) for years with no dramas. Bloody handy

Any pics of your lift? Sounds interesting

I bought two. The first one (From Royal Distributing) was without castors and the hydraulics were garbage, so I returned it.

The second one I bought (From Princess Auto, ~$100CAN plus shipping) had casters and works flawlessly. Very stable, too, even when it's quite high. Easy enough to move around, also. I also like that it has a pedal to raise it, and a pedal to lower it, rather than a release valve you have to turn.

The only drawback is that it doesn't go low enough to get under my bike, so I have to lift the bike onto or off of it.

The Harbor Freight type, linked in one of the posts previously, didn't appeal to me because you can't use it to remove wheels, as the bike isn't supported by the skid plate or frame. Although that style would be handy for oil changes.

Hi Shawbagga, One of the joins in the scissors popped out at 90% extension. Top started to collapse. I twisted the release and grabbed the bike just in time-sprained my wrist quite badly but the bike didn't hit the concrete floor.
Chinese import-used it for about 3 years before the break.

I have the Motosports scissor lift. It was a gift, but I would have spent the $ on it anyway. Love it. Very versatile. Glad that it's heavy when my bike is 3' off the ground. The foot pump jack works great going up and provides a slow and deliberate lowering. Love that it comes w/safety bar in the event the jack gives up the ghost. Check out Kyle's review of it on his Dirt Bike Channel you tube channel.

I've been using the pit posse model (purchased off Ebay for ~$125) since 2010 without any issues. My FE501 is up in the air on it right now getting new sprockets and chain. No complaints.
