• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Say hello to my new friend

And don't be cheap on the oil , and change it a lot... Great motor, pulled away from a bunch of 2 stroke 500's on mine at Unadilla,
last year...

I bought my 510 from the original owner when it was just over 1 year old and he had been using BelRay 4 stroke racing oil since it was new. I continued on with the BelRay until the 5 year mark when the motor was wore out and in serious need of an overhaul. I had George Erl at Up-Tite go thru the motor and he suggested I run Spectro petrolium/synthetic blend 4 stroke oil so I switched over to the Spectro and have been using it ever since with excellent results.

Spectro's good stuff used their premix for years n years:thumbsup: till a buddy started selling Amsoil at his cost:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I just fixed an ignition case with jb weld and sanded it smooth. i am wondering what you mean by dont break the glazeover

Where can i find a oil filter sceen to buy, mine has windows.

I believe that is a Husky only part and is not available aftermarket. I have gotten mine from Up-Tite, but you could probably get one from where ever you get your Husky parts from. Also, if you find one, buy 2 of them and an extra gasket as well. I keep an extra screen and gasket in my stash of spares just in case I find an "open window" in my screen during an oil change...

I did, i bought a few other things.

Its going back together for now and do the major resto work over winter.
Will powder coat this bike too.

Rebuilt forks and replaced the dead springs, new parts going every where as i go.

not too bad! i like the itc rear suspension...super cushy! bike looks pretty solid and un-abused..too bad the kicker mount is cut off, they all seem to get that treatment. i bought an upgraded one from andy to weld on my 84 im restoring..

Nice score! Keep going cause I don't think there is a Husky Museum in Canada!

That means mrs gets a new dishwasher, furniture of equal or always greater value.

I always figure double the amount........ $1k for bike and $1k for mrs!

Teasin!

When JB Weld is applied it smooths out and develops a gloss. I refer to that as a glazeover. I have done exactly what you just did and it is not an issue as the repair is not subjected to fluids. You can paint over blended JB and I would recommend that.

However, if the repair will be subjected to fluid like oils or antifreeze I would not sand or I would apply epoxy over the JB to reseal if I chose to sand to blend. I believe I had been told when you sand down the glaze (glossiness), it will absorb the liquid and possibly swell. This applies predominately to inner case repair where there is no reason to sand unless in the case of my situation with a crankwell repair on my 390 engine.

Been busy throwing parts at it.
Made a few things too, chain wear pad and baffles for my hollow mufflers.
Found the carb is messed with, had no rod to hold the float linkage and no needle in the seat, omg cause it fired up ok
When i did the wheel bearings i was shocked its like brand new in there, bright yellow foam and all.
